Tom Coburn: “The only way to fix Washington is to have a Convention of the States & limit their power”

When asked last night about this new 1000 plus page spending bill and the fact that the Senate will vote on it before anyone gets a chance to read it, Sen. Tom Coburn told Mark Levin that you can’t prevent this stuff from happening because all we have is a bunch of career politicians who only care about getting reelected. He says the only way to fix Washington is for the states to convene a Convention of the States and limit their power, something he definitely supports.

Congress is beginning its new year with a budget deal that busts right through “caps” it was supposed to have on spending. A good place to start is understanding the mountain of debt Americans are already under. Check out and share infographic below that puts it in perspective.

A US ultimatum to Swiss banks has yielded results – with the first alpine hideaway giving up on centuries of total confidentiality. Washington is threatening fines and even jail time for any bank that doesn’t share information on American citizens. But it’s thought that some, will nevertheless stay defiant.

“Secret Agent Man? Oversight of EPA’s IG Investigation of John Beale”

A high-ranking federal Environmental Protection Agency official who admitted to cheating the government out of nearly $1 million by pretending to be a secret agent, smugly refused to answer questions from lawmakers Tuesday, invoking the Fifth Amendment – even though he’s already pleaded guilty.

John Beale, who got himself a cushy four-day workweek for years by telling his bosses he had a one-day-per-week gig at the CIA, refused to answer even the most basic questions from Rep. Darryl Issa, R-Calif., chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

“There’s a big story that hasn’t been told to the thousands and thousands of people from Oklahoma that have called my office. They haven’t been given informed consent. They’ve been sold a bill of goods. And when I have young interns and young staff in my office taking significant calls from people who’ve been misled, there’s no way you’re going to talk them out of a position that outside interest groups and a very few small number of people inside the Senate have planted.”

“They’ve been misdirected in terms of what the real problems are. You know, nobody fought harder, I would say, against the Affordable Care Act, as a practicing physician, than I did. I was still practicing and being a U.S. Senator at that time. I was still delivering babies on the weekends in Oklahoma.”

“I want to spend a little bit of time talking about what this debate has taken our attention away from. The real problem in our country right now is that we’re bankrupt.”

“We’ve had this big debate, but nobody is focused on the fact that Washington is still lying about the numbers up here.”

“The problem is we’re double-minded and double-speaking when we talk about the numbers.”

“Congress, the president, the House and the Senate voted for the Budget Control Act. We made a promise. But we have some problems. The first is the have a bill coming over here is $985 billion. So it’s $18 billion bigger than what we promised you just last year, which begs the question, what are we doing with this continuing resolution? We’re breaking our word that we gave you last year, and the year before.

We can’t help ourselves.”

The $30,000 being spent on the project apparently does not come from HHS’s Obamacare-promotion budget, but from another fund.

Max Keiser and Stacy Herbert discuss the ‘capital Taliban’ and the ‘monetary jihadists’ at the Bank of England, aka ‘financial terrorists,’ but not for the reasons Vince Cable claims they are. Stacy suggests that monetary policy could use a burka as it’s walking in a g-string loose at the moment. In the second half, Max talks to Alasdair Macleod of Macleod Finance and Goldmoney about gold backwardation, GOFO and the 1300 tonnes of gold missing from the Bank of England!

This is an Excellent video! It shows what QE is gonna get US.

Then we get to the ‘fool’s budget': More Spending + Tax Hikes + SS Cuts = Lots of Anger

The budget arrived on Capitol Hill Wednesday morning, delivered 65 days after the legal deadline. The $3.77 trillion spending plan, which is over 2,000 pages, tries to curb deficits by further raising taxes on top earners and reining in the growth of Social Security.

$3.77T spending plan, riles both sides

obama seemed to be coaxing Republicans back to the negotiating table by offering to change the inflation adjustment in Social Security and other government programs — but his offer also has had the unwanted side effect of riling many of his supporters on the left.

Obama’s move to change Social Security inflation rate riles supporters on left

This is all summed up with ‘Insanity’… Despite bad economic numbers and slowed hiring, the obama continues to call for higher taxes.
