which are the foundation of any notion of real democracy?” – Cusack

h/t Joe Miller

By John Cusack, Truthout Interview: John Cusack Interviews Law Professor Jonathan Turley About Obama Administration’s War On the Constitution

In an interview liberal Actor John Cusack takes Obama to task for warring against the Constitution:

Mr. Obama, the Christian president with the Muslim-sounding name, would heed the admonitions of neither religion’s prophets about making war and do what no empire or leader, including Alexander the Great, could do: he would, he assured us “get the job done in Afghanistan.” And so we have our democratic president receiving the Nobel Peace Prize as he sends 30,000 more troops to a ten-year-old conflict in a country that’s been war-torn for 5,000 years.

Why? We’ll never fully know. Instead, we got a speech that was stone bullsh*t and an insult to the very idea of peace…

One is forced to asked the question: Is the President just another Ivy League A**hole shredding civil liberties and due process and sending people to die in some sh*thole for purely political reasons? …

Just think about the economic crisis we are in as a country. It could never happen, they said. The American middle class was rock solid. The American dream, home ownership, education, the opportunity to get a good job if you applied yourself… and on and on. Yeah, what happened to that? It’s gone.

The next question must be: “What happened to our civil liberties, to our due process, which are the foundation of any notion of real democracy?” The chickens haven’t come home to roost for the majority but the foundation has been set and the Constitution gutted.

Jonathan Tucker photographed this display over Whitehorse in the Yukon Territories during the early hours of Sept. 3rd:

As expected, a coronal mass ejection hit Earth on Sept. 3rd at approximately 1200 UT (5 am PDT) in Lofoten, Norway. The impact induced significant ground currents in the soil of northern Scandinavia and sparked bright auroras around the Arctic Circle.

A moderate geomagnetic storm is underway.

CHANCE OF FLARES: Sunspot AR1560 has more than quadrupled in size since August 30th, and now the fast growing active region is directly facing our planet: movie. NOAA forecasters estimate a 40% chance of M-class solar fares during the next 48 hours. Solar Flare alerts: text, phone.

MAGNIFICENT ERUPTION: A filament of magnetism curling around the sun’s southeastern limb erupted on August 31st, producing a coronal mass ejection (CME), a C8-class solar flare, and one of the most beautiful movies ever recorded by NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory:

The Classification of X-ray Solar Flares or “Solar Flare Alphabet Soup”

The explosion hurled a CME away from the sun traveling faster than 500 km/s (1.1 million mph). The cloud is not heading directly toward Earth, but it could deliver a glancing blow to our planet’s magnetic field on or about September 3rd. This date is preliminary and may be changed in response to more data from coronagraphs on the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO). Stay tuned.

“I will begin my presidency with a jobs tour. President Obama began with an apology tour. America, he said, had dictated to other nations. No Mr. President, America has freed other nations from dictators.” – Mitt Romney in his acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention

In the first few months of the president’s term, Obama repeatedly did speak of America’s past mistakes in a series of appearances, several of which fell in foreign countries. It was also revealed in a top secret cable published in 2011 by Wikileaks that the Japanese government vetoed the idea of President Obama visiting Hiroshima in September 2009 and apologizing for the atomic bomb.

Here are five examples of Obama apologizing for America, first collected in 2009 by “Hannity,” which occurred in quick succession during Obama’s April 2009 tour of foreign countries and in two speeches in the United States shortly thereafter.

Several news clips of Obama’s apology tours from Hannity:

1. April 3, 2009: Strasbourg, France

“In America, there’s a failure to appreciate Europe’s leading role in the world. Instead of celebrating your dynamic union and seeking to partner with you to meet common challenges, there have been times where America has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive.”

2. April 6, 2009: Ankara, Turkey to the Turkish Parliament

“Another issue that confronts all democracies as they move to the future is how we deal with the past. The United States is still working through some of our own darker periods in our history.”

3. April 17, 2009, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, at the Summit of the Americas

“While the United States has done much to promote peace and prosperity in the hemisphere, we have at times been disengaged, and at times we sought to dictate our terms.”

4. April 20, 2009: CIA headquarters, Langley, Va.

“Don’t be discouraged that we have to acknowledge potentially we’ve made some mistakes. That’s how we learn.”

5. May 21, 2009: National Archives in Washington D.C.

“Unfortunately, faced with an uncertain threat, our government made a series of hasty decisions. … I also believe that all too often our government made decisions based on fear rather than foresight; that all too often our government trimmed facts and evidence to fit ideological predispositions. Instead of strategically applying our power and our principles, too often we set those principles aside as luxuries that we could no longer afford. And during this season of fear, too many of us — Democrats and Republicans, politicians, journalists, and citizens — fell silent. In other words, we went off course.”

A startling new story by The Daily Caller reveals how a mortgage discrimination lawsuit by then-attorney Barack Obama left many African Americans on the hook for home loans they couldn’t pay back. Tucker Carlson, founder of The Daily Caller, joined Fox and Friends this morning from North Carolina where the Democratic National Convention is set to take place this week.

He told Steve Doocy that the lawsuit was a class action suit of 186 clients, which accused Citibank of redlining — the process of excluding people from mortgages because they live in bad neighborhoods.

Carlson said that Obama was a lead plaintiff on some of these cases, though just a few years later many of the clients weren’t able to pay up. The lawsuit was pushed forward regardless, on the grounds that it was racist not to give them mortgages. He reported that nearly half of the clients from this 1995 lawsuit against Citibank have gone bankrupt or received foreclosure notices and only 19 still own homes.

According to Carlson, who was speaking on behalf of Neil Munro, the reporter who spent time investigating this, some of the plaintiffs didn’t know Obama was involved in the suit and were bewildered that they received loans when it was obvious that they couldn’t repay it.

Munro did not receive comment from the White House on this issue and found no evidence that Obama went back and spoke to the people he was representing.

Imagine looking out your backyard window and seeing a Black Hawk helicopter landing as people with guns climb out. It happened to one woman in Ellettsville, Indiana who at first thought the chopper had crashed. The National Guard says it was working with police on a drug operation and as it turns out, there were 60 marijuana plants in the woods behind this woman’s land.

College students from across North Carolina will arrive in Charlotte by the busload. Same with members of predominantly black churches in neighboring South Carolina.

Their goal: help fill a 74,000-seat outdoor stadium to capacity when President Obama accepts the Democratic nomination Thursday night.

Anything short of a full house on the final night of the Democratic Party’s national convention will be instant fodder for Republicans eager to use empty seats as symbols of waning voter enthusiasm for Obama.

Democrats have been fretting for months over whether the president can draw a capacity crowd at Bank of America Stadium. Polls show voter enthusiasm is down, as are Obama’s crowds for his battleground state campaign rallies.

I would suggest you make sure to vote AGAINST each one of them, for they are JUST blowing smoke and trying to ‘snow’ their constituents. These 31 + empty seats are the noteworthy ones, NOT the ones Obama is using tax dollars to fill! Can you say ‘Running Scared?’ ~ JP

President Obama has met his own worst enemy, and his name is Barack Obama.

“You know there’s something wrong with the kind of job he’s done as president when the best feeling you had was the day you voted for him,” – Mitt Romney

MUST See: Obama’s Top 9 Biggest Lies and signs 923 Executive Orders In 40 Months

Promises about ushering in a new era of politics evaporated with Capitol Hill realities around a stimulus bill, a bitter health care fight, and then the rise of the tea party movement that turned back the president’s army in Congress.

It is therefore disillusionment more than anger that represents the president’s most formidable adversary. That will take battling throughout the week, in the push to fill a stadium, and fulfill a promise that isn’t so old, but has seldom felt more distant.
