After approximately 15 seconds of flight, the experimental aircraft designed to fly at six times the speed of sound was unable to maintain control during a test run Tuesday and was lost, the Air Force said in a statement.

The unmanned X-51A WaveRider was expected to reach Mach 6 after it was dropped by a B-52 bomber off the Southern California coast near Point Mugu, but a faulty control fin compromised the flight.

“It is unfortunate that a problem with this subsystem caused a termination before we could light the Scramjet engine,” Charlie Brink, the X-51A program manager, said in a statement. “All our data showed we had created the right conditions for engine ignition and we were very hopeful to meet our test objectives.”

This year, The Heritage Foundation participates again in the 15th annual Space and Missile Defense Conference in Huntsville, Alabama.

After the first official day, it is clear that many of the participants from the defense industry, as well as private citizens, share concerns about impacts of sequestration, which would slash about half a trillion dollars from the defense budget over the next nine years.

Defense would bear as much as 43 percent of total sequestration cuts, even though it makes up only about 11 percent of total federal spending. This is in addition to about $407 billion in cuts resulting from the spending caps mandated by the Budget Control Act of 2011.

Across the military, readiness issues are already apparent. Air Force fighter jets are generations apart from the pilots flying them. The Navy deploys ships that are barely able to sail. Members of the Army have had to tape body armor to their SUVs because they are not properly protected.

America at Risk: Dave Deptula on the Military’s Aging Aviation Force

Dave Deptula, a retired three-star general, has witnessed this “geriatric aviation force” firsthand. He earned his wings and flew an F-15 for the first time in 1977. Thirty years later, another Deptula boarded the aircraft. His son flew the same F-15 at Kadena Air Force Base in Japan.

The Wall Street Journal documented the amazing father-son story last fall to illustrate the challenges facing the aging force. The elder Deptula recounted for The Heritage Foundation how fiscal constraints have hampered the military’s modernization and recapitalization strategy for the aging aviation force.

America at Risk: Kerry Kachejian on the Importance of Military Readiness

Rebuilding Iraq during the raging insurgency was no easy task. It required ingenuity, courage and innovative ways to get the job done—sometimes with equipment that offered little protection from the car bombs and rocket attacks launched by America’s enemies.

Kachejian told his harrowing story in a book called “SUVs Suck In Combat.” It chronicles some of the war stories that Americans never heard about the readiness challenges facing our military. The Heritage Foundation chose to profile him as part of Protect America Month, which showcases why we must commit to protecting the United States in an increasingly dangerous world.

As the conference in Huntsville makes apparent, many small companies work on innovative solutions to advance U.S. and allied missile defense programs and keep pace with today’s complex challenges. Their work includes everything from software to solutions for situational awareness, unmanned systems, and missile defense test solutions. These companies, often working in partnerships with their larger counterparts or the government, give the U.S. a technological edge that helps it maintain the best defense capability in the world. These companies, however, will be hit hardest if Congress and the President allow sequestration to take effect.

It is an honor for us to be a part of the Space and Missile Defense Conference in Huntsville. It is clear that American people are interested in fixing the country’s fiscal situation and put the country on a path to prosperity. The Heritage Foundation’s Saving the American Dream Plan offers the opportunity to do just that. It is time for Congress to act.

Fears that federal authorities are preparing for mass civil unrest have increased after it was revealed that the Department of Homeland Security is planning to buy a further 750 million rounds of ammo in addition to the 450 million rounds of hollow point bullets already purchased earlier this year.

A solicitation originally issued by the DHS in April but updated on Friday calls on suppliers to provide a plethora of different types of ammunition, including 357 mag rounds that are able to penetrate walls.

The PDF file for the solicitation lists the different units of ammo required by the thousand, with the total ammo purchase exceeding 750 million rounds.

“The Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), Glynco, Georgia anticipates awarding multiple award indefinite delivery and indefinite quantity (IDIQ) firm fixed price (FFP) contracts for commercial leaded training ammunition (CLTA) of various calibers for law enforcement officer firearms training courses at the following FLETC facilities Glynco, GA, Artesia, NM, Cheltenham, MD and Charleston, SC and to other Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agencies. The Government guarantees a minimum of 1,000 rounds per year on each resultant contract. Contracts will be for a base year and four (4) 12 month option periods,” states the synopsis.

Once again DHS orders hundreds of millions of rounds of ammo:

The federal government, specifically the Department of Homeland Security, is buying up huge amounts of ammunition and there seems to be no end in sight. Again, this is nothing new as the DHS has refused to explain their purchase of 450 million hollow points …

~ News you will get in few places. Have you heard?

Obama’s politically correct spin on Islam grows more and more buffoonish. At the very moment he accuses Christians of waging a “war on women,” he casts Islam as a benevolent religion to which the Sandra Flukes could take refuge.

He used his remarks at this year’s Iftar dinner to praise Islam as a female-friendly religion. “Indeed, you know that the Koran teaches, ‘Be it man or woman, each of you is equal to the other,’” he said. For Obama, it is the Bible, not the Koran, that reeks of dangerous patriarchy. Obama has mocked the Book of Leviticus, Deuteronomy, and St. Paul’s letters, but he would never dare question a passage in the Koran, which he regards as a holy and blameless book in no need of politically correct revision.

If the oppression at Georgetown gets to be too much for Sandra Fluke, color=gold>she could always try her luck in the Islamic world, where the rights of women are spreading like wildfire, according to Obama. Thanks in part to Islam, he said, this year’s Olympics can be dubbed “The Year of the Woman,” as Muslim countries generously allowed a few women to play: “Also, for the very first time in Olympic history, every team now includes a woman athlete. And one of the reasons is that every team from a Muslim-majority country now includes women as well.”

Obama was particularly pleased that women got the chance to “face down tanks” in the Arab Spring. Nothing proves sameness between the sexes better than the equal opportunity to die.

Obama seemed unable to get his favorite constituency off his mind, excitedly noting that one of the first “Muslim chaplains at an American college” is a woman, Sanaa Nadim. How did the imams in attendance at the dinner feel about that remark? No doubt they murmur to themselves that Obama is an idiot, albeit a very useful one.

But Obama wasn’t done misleading his audience. “And some of you, as you arrived tonight, may have seen our special display, courtesy of our friends at the Library of Congress — the Koran that belonged to Thomas Jefferson.

He failed to mention that Jefferson purchased the Koran in order to understand the attitudes and tactics of the Barbary pirates. For Jefferson, it wasn’t a holy book but a manual for war.

Obama concluded his remarks with an absurdly hypocritical paean to “freedom of religion.” As he purges Christianity from public life, forbidding any public application of it that conflicts with his liberal dictates, Obama has the gall to gush about religious freedom as a “universal right.”

In Obama’s envisioned America, Islam belongs to the “national story” while Judeo-Christianity marks a chapter best forgotten.

NOTE: This is the fourth Iftar that President Obama has hosted:

President Barack Obama celebrates the Islamic holy month of Ramadan by hosting an Iftar dinner Friday at the White House. The Iftar is the meal that breaks the day of fasting, when Muslim families and communities eat together after sunset. (Aug. 10)

The perception that America is turning more socialist is not just a fringe view, according to a Monitor/TIPP poll. Debate over the size of government could influence November elections.

That finding, contained in a new nationwide poll, highlights a central debate in the 2012 election campaign and a major challenge for President Obama.

The “socialist state” survey is just one many indicators that Americans are worried that the federal government is growing too large – a feeling that works against Mr. Obama’s reelection hopes.

In a Christian Science Monitor/Investor’s Business Daily/TIPP poll completed last week, 40 percent of respondents generally agreed with the statement: “The US is evolving into a socialist state.”That outnumbered the 36 percent who disagreed. About one-quarter of respondents expressed a neutral view or said they were unsure.

Leno asked the actor, best known for his role as Frasier Crane on “Cheers” and “Frasier,” why he was snubbed.

“Well, I mean it may have to do with several — several things honestly. But I think it’s possible, I mean, I am a declared, out of the closet Republican in Hollywood. So, do I believe it’s possible that some young voting actor or even older voting member for the Emmys would sit there and go, ‘That’s a great performance, but I hate everything he stands for?’”

“I look at my political aspirations as that last piece of my life — where I hope to do something good for people and pay back a little,” Grammer said August 2011

Mission Statement

STOP the politicians, President Obama and others, from politically capitalizing on US national security operations and secrets!

EDUCATE the public on the importance and necessity of Operational Security in today’s environment.

To Do Nothing is not an option as that allows the special operations and intelligence capabilities to be degraded, and paraded around like a show dog…ACTION IS REQUIRED NOW!

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A group of former U.S. intelligence and Special Forces operatives is set to launch a media campaign, including TV ads, that scolds President Barack Obama for taking credit for the killing of Osama bin Laden and argues that high-level leaks are endangering American lives.

Leaders of the group, the Special Operations OPSEC Education Fund Inc, say it is nonpartisan and unconnected to any political party or presidential campaign. It is registered as a so-called social welfare group, which means its primary purpose is to further the common good and its political activities should be secondary.

In the past, military exploits have been turned against presidential candidates by outside groups, most famously the Swift Boat ads in 2004 that questioned Democratic nominee John Kerry’s Vietnam War service.

The OPSEC group says it is not political and aims to save American lives. Its first public salvo is a 22-minute film that includes criticism of Obama and his administration. The film, to be released on Wednesday, was seen in advance by Reuters.

“Mr. President, you did not kill Osama bin Laden, America did. The work that the American military has done killed Osama bin Laden. You did not,” Ben Smith, identified as a Navy SEAL, says in the film.

~ Yah, Obama YOU didn’t create that Business!!!

UPDATE II:

The shooter at the Family Research Council headquarters has been identified as Flord Corkins, 28, of Herndon, Virginia.

Fox News and NBC4 are reporting that sources say the suspect was carrying promotional materials from Chick-fil-A, the fast-food chain at the center of a debate over same-sex marriage. The Family Research Council is a staunch opponent of same-sex marriage, and considers homosexuality “unnatural,” according to the group’s website.

Leftist Goon Shoots Up Conservative Family Research Council:

NOTE: Liberal fundedSPLC labeled Family Research Council as a ‘hate group’ in 2010

One witness said he was screaming something about marriage equality when he shot the guard at the headquarters.

Police are investigating after one person was shot this morning when an armed suspect entered the Family Research Council offices in Washington, D.C.

The victim, a security guard at the organization termed a Christian lobbying group, is being treated at a local hospital. Police, however, are continuing to do security sweeps of the building due to reports that the suspect was carrying multiple weapons. Fox News also reported hearing statements that the suspect may be a 28-year-old male who may have posed as an intern; some witnesses claim the suspect was overheard shouting comments about the organization’s politics.

Tony Perkins, the organization’s president, reacted to the shooting, saying, “The police are investigating this incident. Our first concern is for our colleague who was shot today…”

Below are more details as reported by the Associated Press:

Police Chief Cathy Lanier says a man walked into the Family Research Council in the city’s Chinatown neighborhood about 10:45 a.m. Wednesday and was confronted by a security guard, whom he shot. The guard and others wrestled the man to the ground and he was taken into custody by the FBI.

The FBI and police say it’s too early to know the circumstances of the shooting and whether it was connected to the Family Research Council’s activities.

The group says the guard was employed by the organization. The group strongly opposes gay marriage and says it advocates “faith, family and freedom in public policy and public opinion.”

Young illegal immigrants are lining up by the thousands at consulates across the country to take advantage of the Obama administration program allowing them to apply for a two-year reprieve from deportation.

As many as 1.8 million undocumented immigrants could be eligible for the program, which kicked off Wednesday. Under the new rules, applicants can fill out a six-page form, pay a $465 fee and submit documents proving their identity in order to qualify.

Immigration officials say the documents will be closely scrutinized, (allege) given the potential for fraud, but there is no uniform standard. Applicants are supposed to show they arrived in the U.S. before they were 16, and that they’re enrolled in school or vocational training, or have a high school degree.

The lines began forming on Tuesday, as illegal immigrants tried to get a leg up in seeking their passport applications.

“We are waiting for our passports. We want to get our passport because Obama might be asking for them,” applicant Kristi Alarcon told MyFoxHouston, as she stood in line outside Houston’s Mexican consulate.
