I have been researching the use of Psychotropic Drugs being used on our military and have wondered ever since Fort Hood how many ‘special’ ops it has been used on for a commissioned ‘mission’. I consulted an expert in the field. I wanted to know about ‘deliberate and unnecessary’ doping by psychiatrists in the military. The ‘Why’ the military looks for reasons to give it to our brave ones. I understand the individual mania behind it.
My expert explained to me psychotic disorders are most commonly confused with bipolar mania. That Haldol is the FIRST LINE in the VA and military. That means you have to try it first (it has a side effect called extrapyrmidal syndrome, which is uncomfortable for the patient and can cause the deadly neuroleptic malignant syndrome. He went onto to explain the different degrees of each diagnosis, how they are treated and the dangerous side effects.
Many soldiers and normal Americans are readily diagnosed with ADD. Practicing in this field, it seems deliberately over diagnosed. It is a penance from those practicing psychology. It is a curse passed down. He told me:
ALL that said, THIS is what it boils down to. Most of these drugs do NOT need to be used. People who are truly manic and truly psychotic-yes. Absolutely. But 95% of all psychiatric disorders can be sucessfully treated with no meds, just time, better coping skills, etc.
Those in this field over prescribe. He emphasized the criteria:
Do not get me wrong. There are clinically depressed people out there. Most of them we NEVER see because they cannot get out of bed or do not want to leave the house. Today, a person loses his job and if he answers “yes” to a certain amount of questions (all, of which are on tv) you HAVE to prescribe a medication.
I remember my own experience with an endocrinologist who did what amounted to a ‘sobriety test’. Charged an infinite amount & said I needed a shrink. In my case, it turned out to be a bonified illness, which leads me to agree with this expert. He has since left the field:
Its why I got the hell out of psychiatry. We are OVER prescribing medications that we do not understand.
I only wish there were more honorable doctors practicing. He concluded our interview with:
Knowing the “HOW” a med works is totally different than knowing the “WHY” a med works. We know how all of these meds work. Lithium is a salt. Like sodium or potassium, there is an equilibrium between a cell membrane that is trying to be reached. WHY lithum, or any other psych medications work is a totally different animal. We simply do not know.
Remember this. All doctors, whether they want to admit it or not, practice defensive medicine. Every single person, ESPECIALLY in psychiatry gets a pill. Because if that person does not get a pill, and that person snaps and goes on a shooting spree, who do you think is getting blamed? Well now, as we see, even if someone IS getting a pill, look at who is getting blamed.
I also want you to know if you get any form of psych treatment, it could also affect you getting a gun permit.
So I question what was the law on the books in say. Jared’s case, where he abused Salvia divinorum (a natural hallucinogen illegal in some states) or in the Colorado shooting. His psychiatrist warned the University before the Aurora Shooting. Unreported he was able to legally obtain all weapons he used.
Most are focused on blaming the incident on public figures, claiming that political ideology is what drove him to do it. There is one thread that has been ignored, however, and it is crucial to decoding the truth regarding the events. In most cases of a psychopathic shooter taking the lives of innocent people, the killer is heavily dosed up on psychotropic drugs.
This article from January of last year states:
It is a common thread among most well-known shooters, ranging from Columbine to Virginia Tech. Columbine shooters Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, as well as 15-year-old Kip Kinkel, were all being pumped full of psychotropic drugs. Ted Kaczinski the “Unabomber”, Michael McDermott, John Hinckley, Jr., Byran Uyesugi, Mark David Chapman and Charles Carl Roberts IV, the Amish school killer, were all on SSRI psychotropic drugs as well. Jeff Weise, who exhibited many of the same characteristics of Arizona shooter Jared Lee Loughner, was on Prozac. There was even a mainstream news article questioning whether or not it led to the shooting.
But I question when does it become a matter of voluntarily using Psychotropic Drugs, in as much as being ‘given’ them to achieve the effect to go out and commit these crimes?
So as I write this the breaking news has come across Jared pleads guilt. What is total irony, the ad JUST before the ad is pharmaceutical!
Experts had concluded that Loughner suffers from schizophrenia, and officials at a federal prison have forcibly medicated him with psychotropic drugs for more than a year. A court-appointed psychiatrist is expected to testify Tuesday that he is competent to enter a plea.
In this March 2010 article from the Army Times. they state the worry that use of these drugs has spiked and voice concerns over not JUST suicide but ‘other dangers’:
At least one in six service members is on some form of psychiatric drug.
Note his Fort Hood T-Shirt:

And many troops are taking more than one kind, mixing several pills in daily “cocktails” — for example, an antidepressant with an antipsychotic to prevent nightmares, plus an anti-epileptic to reduce headaches — despite minimal clinical research testing such combinations.
The drugs come with serious side effects: They can impair motor skills, reduce reaction times and generally make a war fighter less effective. Some double the risk for suicide, prompting doctors — and Congress — to question whether these drugs are connected to the rising rate of military suicides.
“It’s really a large-scale experiment. We are experimenting with changing people’s cognition and behavior,” said Dr. Grace Jackson, a former Navy psychiatrist.
So today, Jared is front page news but the overlooked importance of over 110,000 US forces used psychotropic meds in 2011 is distressing. And these are our military that we know about. What about the secrecy that surrounds ‘Special Ops? Super Soldiers?
In this video from January 2011, A new report, made by a defense science advisory panel known as JASON, recommends that the U.S. military take advantage of the gene pool of its service members in order to create perfect soldiers.
The CIA has openly admitted that they experimented in LSD tests and biological warfare tests on US citizens. Those are the “de-classified” experiments.
Makes you wonder what they are doing that they dont talk about publicly – buffboynick
What I want to know is what part do psychotropic drugs play in it. How IMHO this has been done by design and we can expect to see even more tragedies in the future. Sadly it will become part of the norm in a society that is ignorant of what is going on or too drugged to question it. ~ JP
