So my daughter was here from Chicago and JUST the day before confessed to us her love of Zombies. I knew she was a fanatic from adolescence. But Lo and Behold her Nana sees the very morning of the evening she would leave, that Zombies landed in our small town. What a coinkydink. So we dragged her there in hopes her and her friend would be extras. I mean after all they have the Zombie thang down pat. But appearing as an extra in a local, independent film was a different story. I offered to be the best senior zombie in the flick if they would. No dice!
My daughter is a Zombie expert actually and would have been great on the crew. She became an expert in about 2009 reading The Zombie Survival Guide.

We also took MawMaw, who is 96 years young. Nana was in control of the wheelchair and Buddy I tellya, PF, Nana and I came up with the perfect plot to Thr33 Days Dead. So, John M. Ware of Jasper listen up, should you want to ever add this:
See Nana is innocently pushing MawMaw in front of the courthouse. Out of nowhere all your extras Zombies converge on her helpless self in the wheelchair. Nana is frantically trying to defend her, which all the bystanders could have been used to try & help fend them off. I mean come on now, Jasperites, this is the South : God, Country and Guns, not to mention baseball bats, the best tool to decapitate a Zombie for goodness sake! It’s also the state of fanatics for their football teams, which BTW there should be a few of those Roll Tide jerseys dontchya think? Although I do recollect Nana saying there was one.
Anyway as Nana was trying her danged best to fight the zombies and keep them off her mother, MawMaw turns around, stands up and SHE herself is a Zombie! End of Nana. Screen goes black. The End!

Here are the photos I got to share. What I loved but irritated my daughter because I repeatedly used the word ‘Ketchup’, Factoid: horror movies of my generation used ketchup for blood. This is what the Jasper Zombies wore on their clothing. Isn’t that JUST great? Keep in mind this was the first zombie appearance for most except one little girl, was her second Zombie appearance.
These were my favorites:
He so reminded me of Ozzie and LOVED he was in tie-dye!
She was wery scary yes? But Zombies don’t drink Pepsi Wish I had gotten her with her teddy bloody, that was very, very frightening:
This girl died a dozen times. She was good because she was slowly dying, trembling fingers after her screams:
Our local town paper, The Daily Mountain Eagle staff would like to assure its readers that it is not the zombie apocalypse. We promise. The hundreds of stumbling ghouls who will amass at Jasper’s courthouse square today are here only for a film shoot. Teeter said that, during today’s shoot, the filmmakers will take collections for Scares that Care, a nonprofit that uses the fan base for the horror genre to help sick children.
Thr33 Days Dead is an independent feature length zombie film being filmed/produced in Jasper, AL. As of May 25th, we are approximately 60% complete with filming.
