So my daughter was here from Chicago and JUST the day before confessed to us her love of Zombies. I knew she was a fanatic from adolescence. But Lo and Behold her Nana sees the very morning of the evening she would leave, that Zombies landed in our small town. What a coinkydink. So we dragged her there in hopes her and her friend would be extras. I mean after all they have the Zombie thang down pat. But appearing as an extra in a local, independent film was a different story. I offered to be the best senior zombie in the flick if they would. No dice!

My daughter is a Zombie expert actually and would have been great on the crew. She became an expert in about 2009 reading The Zombie Survival Guide.

Top 10 Lessons for Surviving a Zombie Attack :

1. Organize before they rise!

Worst case scenario, your in a shoot out against hundreds of zombies. You need all the firepower you can get! So MAKE SURE YOUR SHOOTING ZOMBIES! We are low on humans as it is!

2. They feel no fear, why should you?

There has been countless times where people have thought themselves safe but moments later for a zombie to come and claim his manwitch.

3. Use your head: cut off theirs.

There has been countless occasions where people shoot the zombie and the fall to the ground in a heap and the person walk up to the body victorious only to be bitten. DOUBLE TAP! Shoot a zombie, walk up to it and shoot it in the head again

4. Blades don’t need reloading.

Seriously, don’t be a hero and say that bite is nothing show someone else too, YOU IDIOT!

5. Ideal protection = tight clothes, short hair.

Got a super cool pistol with tracer round? Learn how to use it! Take it apart, reload it, test firing etc.

6. Get up the staircase, then destroy it.

We don’t want it going off in you pants now do we?

7. Get out of the car, get onto the bike.

Need the toilet? Make sure someone is always with you…armed

8. Keep moving, keep low, keep quiet, keep alert!

We need you in tip top physical form to be able to survive the zombieness!

9. No place is safe, only safer.

We don’t want you drugged up and loopy during an attack!

10. The zombie may be gone, but the threat lives on.

No explanation needed, follow and you will survive

We also took MawMaw, who is 96 years young. Nana was in control of the wheelchair and Buddy I tellya, PF, Nana and I came up with the perfect plot to Thr33 Days Dead. So, John M. Ware of Jasper listen up, should you want to ever add this:

See Nana is innocently pushing MawMaw in front of the courthouse. Out of nowhere all your extras Zombies converge on her helpless self in the wheelchair. Nana is frantically trying to defend her, which all the bystanders could have been used to try & help fend them off. I mean come on now, Jasperites, this is the South : God, Country and Guns, not to mention baseball bats, the best tool to decapitate a Zombie for goodness sake! It’s also the state of fanatics for their football teams, which BTW there should be a few of those Roll Tide jerseys dontchya think? Although I do recollect Nana saying there was one.

Anyway as Nana was trying her danged best to fight the zombies and keep them off her mother, MawMaw turns around, stands up and SHE herself is a Zombie! End of Nana. Screen goes black. The End!

Here are the photos I got to share. What I loved but irritated my daughter because I repeatedly used the word ‘Ketchup’, Factoid: horror movies of my generation used ketchup for blood. This is what the Jasper Zombies wore on their clothing. Isn’t that JUST great? Keep in mind this was the first zombie appearance for most except one little girl, was her second Zombie appearance.

These were my favorites:

He so reminded me of Ozzie and LOVED he was in tie-dye!

She was wery scary yes? But Zombies don’t drink Pepsi :) Wish I had gotten her with her teddy bloody, that was very, very frightening:

This girl died a dozen times. She was good because she was slowly dying, trembling fingers after her screams:

Our local town paper, The Daily Mountain Eagle staff would like to assure its readers that it is not the zombie apocalypse. We promise. The hundreds of stumbling ghouls who will amass at Jasper’s courthouse square today are here only for a film shoot. Teeter said that, during today’s shoot, the filmmakers will take collections for Scares that Care, a nonprofit that uses the fan base for the horror genre to help sick children.

PORTLAND, Ore. Apr 18, 2012- Police have released surveillance video from inside the Lloyd Center Nordstrom store that was hit recently by what’s being called a ‘flash rob.’

Last Friday night, around 10 teenagers stole more than $500 worth of clothes from Nordstrom. They walked in, stuffed clothes in their bags and then ran out of the store.

Officers later found some of those clothes, but not the suspects, who were all wearing hats and hoodies. Investigators are hoping surveillance video will help track down the thieves. Here’s a look:

Surveillance Video / April 13, 2012

So far, the evidence makes it looks like just one more of the hundreds of episodes of racial lawlessness that have taken place in more than 60 cities over the last three years.

PORTLAND, Ore. – Police are investigating another ‘flash rob’ – one that got ugly real quick but was stopped by a can of bear spray.

The crime happened around 11 p.m. Friday at the Max Mart & Deli at 12128 E. Burnside Street.

In April, a mob of 20 black people chased a white couple into a convenience store. The local papers described the ensuing assault and robbery as a “fight.” The mob left when one of the employees sprayed them with “bear spray.”

In June, a bigger crowd attacked an Albertson’s grocery store, following the same play book: Theft, destruction, intimidation. And no arrests, despite the video.

Third Flash Mob Robbery in One Month in Portland, Oregon

(KPTV) – A third flash mob theft in a one-month span in Portland left a mess behind at a convenience store Friday.

Surveillance video showed unwelcome visitors enter the Max Mart and Deli in the 12000 block of East Burnside in Portland late Friday night.

Store manager Prakash Thapa said about 15 to 20 teenagers ransacked the store and stole multiple items.

“Some of them went toward the beer cooler, some went toward the candy section and some of them headed for the milk cooler,” Thapa said.

Portland police said a man and woman joined store workers in trying to get the teenagers to leave, and at one point, the man threw groceries at the mob. Several fights broke out, according to police.

Thapa said his two employees tried to stand their ground.

“The gas attendant comes in and tries to sort it out and they tried to hit him, too, and he gets hurt,” he said. “I think he has scratches all over his face.”

At one point, the workers used pepper spray to get the mob to disperse and run off.

Thapa said it took three hours to clean up the mess left behind by the teens.

“It was a total mess, a total mess,” he said. “I’ve never seen this store like that. Everything was falling apart.”

Thapa said he has doubts about whether the teens can be brought to justice.

“Just taking them to jail won’t make them learn anything. You know they’re going to come back and do the same stuff again,” Thapa said.

The incident bears similarities to a flash mob theft at a southeast Portland Chevron station earlier in April. There was also an incident on April 13 when 10 teens rushed into the Lloyd Center Mall Nordstrom store and stole hundreds of dollars worth of North Face jackets.

In January of this year, a 14-year old white girl was beaten down by three black women while about a dozen other black people took videos, shouted racial epithets, and encouraged the assault.

by Ed Madrid, The Oregonian on Wednesday, January 11, 2012

Police are investigating the beating of a 14-year-old girl on a MAX train, but wish someone had called 9-1-1 when the incident took place.

Four people were arrested, including a mother of two of the assailants. The mother was convicted of giving police false information while trying to hide her daughters.

The most recent attacks are also the largest – and to some the most troubling.

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Police are investigating two “large-scale” fights that happened in Laurelhurst Park in Southeast Portland earlier this week.

In Medieval Europe, most countries had only one person vote – the king.

In colonial America only landowners voted, then those owning a certain amount of personal property.

After the Revolution, States gradually let those without land vote if they paid taxes, but many States continued religious and literacy tests.

In 1870, the 15th Amendment let former slaves vote.

In 1920, the 19th Amendment let women vote.

In 1924, American Indians could vote in Federal Elections.

In 1961, the 23rd Amendment let District of Columbia residents vote in Federal Elections.

In 1964, the 24th Amendment let vote those who could not pay a poll tax.

In 1965, the Voting Rights Act removed literacy tests.

On JUNE 22, 1970, President Nixon extended the Voting Rights Act to let 18-year-olds vote.

The Supreme Court, in Oregon v Mitchell, limited this right so the 26th Amendment was passed in 1971 to confirm it.

President Nixon stated March 24, 1970:

“In other areas, too, there were long struggles to eliminate discrimination…Property and even religious qualifications for voting persisted well into the 19th century – and not until 1920 were women finally guaranteed the right to vote.”

On August 24, 1972, Nixon said:

“For the first time in the 195 year history of this country, men and women 18 to 21 years of age will have the chance to vote.”

After the turmoil of the Watergate scandal, and the initiation of impeachment proceedings in the House of Representatives, President Nixon decides to resign from office and announces the decision to the American people.

President Richard Nixon – Address Announcing Resignation August 8th, 1974

In 1832, Noah Webster wrote in his History of the United States:

“When you become entitled to exercise the right of voting for public officers, let it be impressed on your mind that God commands you to choose for rulers ‘just men who will rule in the fear of God.’

The preservation of a republican government depends on the faithful discharge of this duty.”

Noah Webster continued:

“If the citizens neglect their duty and place unprincipled men in office, the government will soon be corrupted;

laws will be made not for the public good so much as for the selfish or local purposes;

corrupt or incompetent men will be appointed to execute the laws;

the public revenues will be squandered on unworthy men;

and the rights of the citizens will be violated or disregarded.

If a republican government fails to secure public prosperity and happiness, it must be because the citizens neglect the divine commands, and elect bad men to make and administer the laws.”

Last month, “Fox & Friends” produced this four-minute piece that came across as a hit piece on President Barack Obama and earned the network a ton of criticism — even from conservatives.

Hats off to Chris White — Fox News Associate Producer, for putting together this brilliant video compilation of what the past 4 years of ‘Hope and Change” has REALLY brought to this country.

Turns out the White House also wasn’t a fan of the piece. The New York Times reports this morning that the “Fox & Friends” piece earned the network an “angry phone call” from White House Press Secretary Jay Carney.

In an angry phone call, the White House press secretary, Jay Carney, told the network’s executive vice president for news, Michael Clemente, that even by “Fox & Friends” standards the video crossed the line, according to two Democrats who weren’t authorized to speak of the private conversation.

The Times also has some good detail on the infighting at the network over “Fox & Friends,” which executive Bill Shine said is entertainment, not news.

Critics of the show include not just Democrats and comedy outlets like “Saturday Night Live,” but reporters, producers and executives at Fox. Ask them what they think privately, and they will often roll their eyes and mention some embarrassing mishap, like the time Steve Doocy, one of three hosts, insisted in 2007 that the president was raised Muslim.

Fox News eventually took down the ad from its site the same day it originally aired late last month. Shine said in a statement that the package was was “not authorized at the senior executive level of the network,” and that it had been addressed with the show’s producers.
