Originally for legislators to do research, it began APRIL 24, 1800, with a $5,000 grant from Congress.

The British set fire to it during the War of 1812, burning hundreds books.

Thomas Jefferson provided over 6,400 volumes to restock it.

The Library of Congress relocated to its present site in 1897 and is now the largest library in the world with over 118 million items on more than 500 miles of shelves.

The Library of Congress’ Rare Book Division has 1,470 Bibles dating from the beginning of printing, including one of three existing copies of the original 15th Century Gutenberg Bible on vellum.

Library of Congress in Washington, D. C. is the largest library in the world. Ornate Great Hall in the Jefferson Building; materials and craftsmanship are stunning.

Inscribed on the walls of the Library of Congress are the verses:

“The light shineth in darkness, and the darkness comprehendeth it not” (John 1:5);

“Wisdom is the principal thing therefore get wisdom and withall thy getting, get understanding” (Proverbs 4:7);

“What doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, love mercy and walk humbly with thy God” (Micah 6:8);

“The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament showeth His handywork (Psalm 19:1).

Also inscribed in the Library of Congress is Alfred, Lord Tennyson’s line:

“One God, one law, one element, and one far-off divine event, to which the whole creation moves.”

Whatever ideological differences members of the NAACP might have with U.S. Rep. Allen West, the local chapter was willing to put them aside for one nonpolitical night.

Its leaders invited the Republican from Plantation to give the keynote speech at its annual fundraiser in Martin County, the Freedom Fund Banquet. The theme was “Still Standing For Freedom and Equality,” and they wanted to hear West speak about his rise to fame.

Instead, the NAACP chapter pulled the plug on the event Tuesday — four days before it was to be held at a Palm City country club.

The reason:

“There’s a certain statement he made about Communists,” said Jerry Gore, president of the Martin County chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

The NAACP may have stood him up for Saturday night, but the smart money says West will still have plenty to do.

Gore was referring, of course, to West’s remarks at an April 10 campaign event in Jensen Beach.

- source

On April 13, three days after making his Communist claims, West sent his supporters an email titled “Speaking the Truth.”

Here is what he said in the email I got:

Dear Fellow Conservative,

I’m Allen West and I’m a principled conservative Congressman from south Florida. The liberals and their friends in the media have made me their number one target because I’m not afraid to speak the truth.

You and I know the left and their allies in the media will stop at nothing to promote their destructive policies. This week they’re complaining about my use of the word ‘communist’ in reference to the Progressive Caucus, but no one is challenging my point—that these people oppose free markets and individual economic freedom, and they advocate for redistribution of wealth.

I need you to stand with me against attacks from the liberals and the distortions of the corrupt liberal media.

The Progressive Caucus advocates for state control over industries, redistribution of wealth, reduced individual economic freedom and the destruction of free markets. Members of this Caucus lavished praise on Fidel Castro following a 2009 visit to Cuba. They have even introduced a Constitutional Amendment to redistribute wealth.

You can call them whatever you want, but the point is, they oppose free markets and individual economic freedom, they want to redistribute wealth, and they want to see the nation fundamentally transformed. Their policies are destructive and I will stand up to them regardless of the critics.

The Agriculture Department says a new case of mad cow disease has surfaced in a dairy cow in California.

The case is the fourth in recent years. John Clifford, the department’s chief veterinary officer, said the cow from central California did not enter the human food chain and that U.S. meat and dairy supplies are safe.

Clifford did not say when the disease was discovered or exactly where the cow was raised. He said the cow was at a rendering plant in Central California when the case was discovered through U.S.D.A. sample testing.

There have been only three known cases of mad cow disease in the U.S.

The Agriculture Department is sharing its lab results with international animal health officials in Canada and England, Clifford said.

I didn’t have a standout performance, which is surprising. But it was my favorite music of all time, MOTOWN! I wish Martha Reeves (born July 18, 1941 in Eufaula, Alabama) had not performed, she was a mess. And what’s up with the fake Temptations? I mean they are all dead and gone. But my highlight of the night, was my # 2 Motown fav- Smokeeeey! I saw him once in a concert, which seemed like a lifetime ago. I also saw the Tempts, Spinners, Four Tops and more because this music was made for ME! I went to dances EVERY blessed weekend! Seeing these groups was affordable back at the Embassy Ballroom and the Holiday Ballroom in the heart of Chicago’s NW side.. Not to mention I use to rock out with Chaka Kahn when she was with Rufus. And my Buddy Miles at the Aragon Ballroom which is still there today. Ah, good memories. My love for Motown was born in 1963 at my first grammar school dance when I moved to Dancing in the Streets. I was smitten and still am today with Motown! And I think Berry Gordy looked amazing for 113! Ok 83 then, (born November 28, 1929). Why were the Supremes not represented?

I have one more comment on the white guys singing Motown, HUH? They sounded like the Kingston Trio for goodness sake. They should have had Boyz II Men because they were Motown. Not some namby pamby color by number guys with no soul. Geesh!

~ JP

My mind is complete & I’m so blue cuz I can’t next to these fake Temptations! There was only ONE Melvin. ONE Eddie Kendricks. ONE David Ruffin. My goodness how can you have the Temptations being the originals are gone? Blasphemy!

Katherine Jenkins I loved her authentic do! I spent hours getting mine like that!

The difference and no one was Eddie with that falsetto:

My most favorite Tempts song ~ The Way you do the Things you Do. Well that & Papa was a rolling stone. This was like a prelude to rap music in my mind. Listen to the difference with the fake Tempts and the REAL Tempts.

Donald Driver

LOVE this Video:

The real Tempts sing @ 1:53

This singer is NO David Ruffin by a long shot!

Jaleel White

What I feel was the BEST dance of the night…

The good old days, the good old days! What more can you say about the fabulous Temptations (Eddie Kendricks, Melvin Franklin, David Ruffin, Otis Williams and Paul Williams!). Here they all are tall, young, happy and talented…….all together! Singing and performing their iconic hit “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg”

So in my mind I did the boogaloo to this dance:

Maria Menounos

And Smokey still looks gorgeous at 72! Golly, I cannot believe he is 72! There would have been no Motown without him!

Didn’t care for the dance but.. it is Smokey:

A radical Pakistani cleric named Sheikh Mubarak Ali Gilani and his followers testify to the holiness of a shrine where miracles allegedly prove his supernatural powers. The shrine isn’t in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia or anywhere in the Islamic world. It’s in York County, South Carolina, inside a commune about 36 acres large called “Holy Islamville,” located on a street named Islamville Way.

It was founded in 1982 by a group called Muslims of the Americas (MOA), led by the aforementioned Gilani. The Department of Homeland Security says it is linked to Jamaat ul-Fuqra, a Pakistani militant group also led by Glani. The State Department describes ul-Fuqra as “an Islamic sect that seeks to purify Islam through violence.”

WBTV (Charlotte) looks into Islamville, an Islamic village in SC connected to Muslims of America, a front group for Jamaat ul-Fuqra.

and in Tennessee…

NewsChannel 5 Crew Visits Islamville Compound

Video Claims Terrorists Train In Tennessee Community

So Patriots and Friends, you think YOUR community is immune? Read this entire post…

Fuqra was behind many assassinations and bombings between 1979 and the early 1990s. Its biggest plot aimed to kill 4,500 Indians in Toronto during the Festival of Lights in 1991. Its destructive capacity first caught the FBI’s attention in 1989 because of a raid on a storage locker in Colorado Springs. They discovered weapons and plans for various attacks, including a scheme to murder Imam Rashad Khalifa in Arizona in 1990. They succeeded, killing him exactly as the seized papers said they would. Two Fuqra members were allegedly involved in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and dramatic plots against New York City.

In October 1992, Fuqra’s 101-acre compound at Buena Vista, Colorado was shut down. The authorities discovered it was a full-blown terrorist training camp. The members financed their efforts through a web of fake companies and various criminal activities. A poem by Gilani was found that reads:

“Come join my troops and army/Says our Sheikh Gilani/Prepare to sacrifice your head/A true believer is never dead/Say ‘Victory is in the Air’/The kafir’s blood will not be spared.” That’s the sheikh who the residents of Islamville and the other MOA compounds view as a representative of Allah that meets with Jesus in heaven, heals diseases, transforms into animals, instantly transports and leaves his body at will.

The MOA says it has 22 “villages” around the country, with its Islamberg headquarters in Hancock, New York being the most notorious. In a secret recruitment tape made by Gilani, he states the purpose of these villages: “We are establishing training camps.” He tells viewers that they “are most welcome to join one of the most advanced training courses in Islamic military warfare” by contacting the group’s offices in Pakistan or several locations in the U.S., including South Carolina. That’s Islamville.

The video then shows the type of training being offered: Hijacking vehicles, use of firearms, hijacking vehicles, setting off explosives, etc. Gilani makes it clear that he isn’t just focused on Kashmir. “We are fighting to destroy the enemy. We are dealing with evil at its roots and its roots are America,” he says. Excerpts from the tape were first released in a film titled Homegrown Jihad and later in The Third Jihad.

The tape was dismissed by some because of its old age and the fact that it was filmed in Pakistan. A law enforcement source later provided me with two more of the MOA’s films. The first showed women living at Islamberg in New York training in guerilla warfare, complete in military fatigue. The second is a propaganda tape where MOA leaders declare America a Muslim country and vow to defend it from foreign and domestic enemies. I gave the films to the Christian Action Network to release to the public.

~ Snippets:

* The children at Islamville and other MOA compounds are homeschooled. Islamville shares an address with a school called the Ace Academy, a mosque named Masjid Fatimah and a company called Al-Oasis Tech. What are the children being taught?

* I attended its last event on April 16, 2011, where I confronted the leader of MOA’s “village” at Red House, Virginia. You can read about that here. York Mayor Eddie Lee and the York County Sheriff have attended Islamville events. In 2004, an FBI Special Agent in Charge spoke at the ceremony of Islamville’s Muslim Scouts of America, as is shown on its website. About 300 Boy Scouts attended a camp in Islamville in 2006.

South Carolinian officials need to understand what Islamville really is.

The following is a dark contrast in leaders…

Allen West: Muslim Brotherhood influencing our national security strategy…

Then we have the imperial leader who says: The War On Terror Is ‘Over’..

Today, the National Journal reported that a senior State Department official has announced, “The war on terror is over.”

The article itself describes the Obama administration’s new vision of foreign policy, which admits no enemies. Everyone, in this view, is a friend. Islamism, says the Obama administration, is just fine, so long as it does not openly support terrorism. This, of course, is utter foolishness. Islamism is a religious ideological movement that brooks no real alternatives.

To Obama, the war on Islamism may be over. For Islamists, the war on America is far from over.

by Ben Shapiro

NOTE: This map was from 2002, a decade ago & does not include today’s threat.

Obama is not addressing the threat of these compounds within our own border’s. We have at least 22 known, functioning compounds in the US where they are training to enforce Sharia Law.

How did breast cancer survivor Lisa Lindsay end up behind bars? She didn’t pay a medical bill — one the Herrin, Ill., teaching assistant was told she didn’t owe. “She got a $280 medical bill in error and was told she didn’t have to pay it,” The Associated Press reports. “But the bill was turned over to a collection agency, and eventually state troopers showed up at her home and took her to jail in handcuffs.”

Although the U.S. abolished debtors’ prisons in the 1830s, more than a third of U.S. states allow the police to haul people in who don’t pay all manner of debts, from bills for health care services to credit card and auto loans. In parts of Illinois, debt collectors commonly use publicly funded courts, sheriff’s deputies, and country jails to pressure people who owe even small amounts to pay up, according to the AP.

Under the law, debtors aren’t arrested for nonpayment, but rather for failing to respond to court hearings, pay legal fines, or otherwise showing “contempt of court” in connection with a creditor lawsuit. That loophole has lawmakers in the Illinois House of Representatives concerned enough to pass a bill in March that would make it illegal to send residents of the state to jail if they can’t pay a debt. The measure awaits action in the senate.

“Creditors have been manipulating the court system to extract money from the unemployed, veterans, even seniors who rely solely on their benefits to get by each month,” Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan said last month in a statement voicing support for the legislation. “Too many people have been thrown in jail simply because they’re too poor to pay their debts. We cannot allow these illegal abuses to continue.”

Debt collectors typically avoid filing suit against debtors, a representative with the Illinois Collectors Association tells the AP. “A consumer that has been arrested or jailed can’t pay a debt. We want to work with consumers to resolve issues,” he said.

Yet Illinois isn’t the only state where residents get locked up for owing money. A 2010 report by the American Civil Liberties Union that focused on only five states — Georgia, Louisiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Washington — found that people were being jailed at “increasingly alarming rates” over legal debts. Cases ranged from a woman who was arrested four separate times for failing to pay $251 in fines and court costs related to a fourth-degree misdemeanor conviction, to a mentally ill juvenile jailed by a judge over a previous conviction for stealing school supplies.

~ First the report Pennsylvania and Ohio and now…

Results of an ongoing Virginia State Police investigation of voter registration irregularities from the 2008 general election may signal a more significant voter fraud issue than some state lawmakers realized.

As Virginia legislators hotly debated a voter ID bill that narrowly passed the General Assembly, many were unaware of a state police investigation that, so far, has resulted in charges against 38 people statewide for voter fraud. Warrants have been obtained for a 39th person who can’t be located.

A majority of those cases already have resulted in convictions, and 26 additional cases are still being actively investigated nearly 3½ years after the state Board of Elections forwarded more than 400 voter and election fraud allegations from 62 cities and counties to Virginia State Police for individual investigation.

“We believe these complaints ran the gamut from voter registration fraud issues through potential fraud at the polling place on Election Day,” said Donald Palmer, secretary of the Virginia Board of Elections, who was appointed by Gov. Bob McDonnell in February 2011. “We do not have specific numbers on how the complaints broke down. However, (the state board of elections) is aware that arrests have been made over the past few years for individuals engaging in voter registration fraud.”

Palmer added that recent indictments obtained by the Richmond commonwealth’s attorney’s office for voter fraud and the results of the state police investigation “remind us that unfortunately, fraud does exist in Virginia’s elections.”

Many opponents of the voter ID law maintained that there was no evidence of widespread election fraud in Virginia, and the law would suppress the vote of minorities and others who don’t have adequate identification. About 3.7 million Virginians voted in the 2008 election.

~ Snippet:

Garrett, a strong proponent of the voter ID law and other election fraud legislation, believes the bill would have prevented felons from voting in the 2008 election had it been in place — combined with a companion piece of legislation passed this session that requires local registrars to purge felons or anyone else illegally registered to vote from voting roles several weeks before an election.

Under that law, registrars are required to send prompt notice to anyone whose voting registration has been canceled and report to the local prosecutor’s office any registered voter who has made a false statement on his application about having been convicted of a felony.

If that person then shows up to vote, “the only way to catch them is through the voter ID bill — should they come in claiming to be actually who they are,” Garrett said.
