Data suggests the rocket broke up in mid-flight inside the Earth’s atmosphere. Officials tell Fox News the rocket did not fall into any populated areas, suggesting it fell into the ocean.
The rocket likely broke apart during the first phase of a three phase process.
A 2009 attempt by North Korea to launch a rocket also failed during its third stage.

DEVELOPING – North Korea launched a rocket Friday, US officials confirm, in what the U.S. and its allies consider an attempt to test long-range missile technology.
It is unclear at this time if the launch was successful.
The launch window for what North Korea says is an observation satellite began Thursday and extended through Monday. The launch window was timed during a week aimed at celebrating Sunday’s centennial birth of Kim Ill Sung, the country’s late founder. Events also include high-level meetings where new leader Kim Jong Un has received at least three new titles to further cement his rule.
The United States, Japan, Britain, Russia and others say the launch would be a provocation and would violate U.N. Security Council resolutions banning North Korea from developing its nuclear and missile programs. Experts say the Unha-3 carrier is similar to the type of rocket that could be used to fire a missile mounted with a nuclear warhead to strike the U.S. or other targets.
U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, speaking for the Group of Eight nations after their foreign ministers met in Washington, said all the members of the bloc agreed to be prepared to take further action against North Korea in the Security Council if the launch goes ahead.
“Pyongyang has a clear choice: It can pursue peace and reap the benefits of closer ties with the international community, including the United States; or it can continue to face pressure and isolation,” Clinton said.
At the United Nations in New York, G-8 member Russia echoed that the launch would violate Security Council resolutions. But North Korea’s other main ally, China — which is not part of the G-8 — was more circumspect.
“We are very concerned about that issue,” China’s U.N. Ambassador Li Baodong said, adding that Beijing wanted to “diffuse tension, not inflame” it.
Japan’s parliament adopted a resolution Thursday condemning the scheduled rocket launch.
“A launch is a serious act of provocation that would affect peace and stability in the region that includes our country,” Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda said, reading the resolution adopted unanimously at the lower house. “We strongly urge North Korea to use self-restraint and not to carry out a launch.”
South Korea’s Defense Ministry said it was prepared to shoot down any rocket that strays into its territory.
Back in July 2006, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (CA) appeared at a gas station in Washington, D.C., to draw attention to the high price of gas under President George W. Bush. Back then, gas at that station was $3.19 per gallon, yet today gas prices in the very same location are a whopping $4.45 per gallon — yet Pelosi is nowhere to be found.
But Pelosi isn’t the only one missing. Back in 2006, she stood alongside Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Representatives Rahm Emanuel (D-IL) and Ed Markey (D-MA), all of whom criticized Bush for his energy policy, blaming him for high gas prices. Today, gas prices are even higher under President Barack Obama, averaging $3.90 a gallon nationally — double the price from when Obama took office. Strangely, though, neither Pelosi, Schumer nor Markey have stopped by the Congressional Exxon Station to protest this Administration’s policy. (We’ll give Mayor Emanuel a pass since he lives in Chicago, but gas prices are averaging $4.34 per gallon in the Windy City.)
Taking a ride in the Wayback Machine, we found that along with the press conference, Markey issued a release blasting Bush and Republicans in Congress:
Oil companies are tipping American families upside down and shaking money out of their pockets and guess who is helping them? The Bush Administration and this GOP Congress. Last week, a gallon of regular gasoline averaged $2.93 nationally, which represents a $0.71 increase over prices at the same time last year, and a whopping $1.66 increase over the $1.26 charged for a gallon of regular gasoline when Bush took office.
Pelosi had stern words for the President that month, too, protesting that “The Republicans’ failed energy policy has taken us in the wrong direction, leading to record gas prices that exceed $3 a gallon, record oil prices of more than $78 a barrel, record oil profits that have increased 32 percent, and record dependence on foreign oil.” Nevermind the fact that President Bush sought to increase drilling which, if successful, would have been paying dividends today. By contrast, President Obama is opposing efforts to develop domestic energy resources, thereby leaving Americans stuck with high energy prices.
So where are their stern words for President Obama and his failed energy policy? We haven’t seen them.
With a former U.S. Congressman in the audience, Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan made his anticipated, controversial appearance Tuesday night at Alabama A&M University. Surrounded by a security detail of dark suits and bow ties, it was Farrakhan’s white suit that commanded the stage.
Speaking to a cheering crowd that filled most of the auditorium, Farrakhan touched on sensitive religious and racial issues while using his infamous vernacular to hammer some astounding points.
NORMAL, Ala. – “Offensive and inflammatory” is how many people refer to the controversial Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan. The 78 year-old spoke to a large crowd inside Alabama A&M University’s Elmore Gymnasium Tuesday night.
According to Farrakhan’s web site, finalcall.com, his speech covered the “True Meaning of Education.” The address was also viewed by thousands of students at other historically black colleges throughout Alabama via webcast. In his speech, Farrakhan discussed the importance of success in education, and how self-respect ties into that.
Farrakhan implores the mostly African-American audience, “Who taught you to hate your black self? It wasn’t Farrakhan. If you say you love God, why don’t you love the way God created you?” He added that African-Americans should concentrate on solidarity and respecting one another before trying to improve the relationship between black and white.
More than a thousand showed up to hear his speech. Among those were members of the Nation of Islam, along with African-American students and community members interested in learning more about the public figure and his ideologies.
Protesters were harder to come by. Although Roni Lee didn’t bring signs, she says she was still appalled that Farrakhan was allowed to speak at AAMU Tuesday night. She says, “I’m shocked. I’m shocked and dismayed that the university would accommodate this sort of rhetoric. Over the years, when I’ve heard Mr. Farrakhan speak, it’s just hatred.”
Tuesday marked Farrakhan’s first visit to the Huntsville area. His speech at Alabama A&M helped kick off his speaking tour of traditionally black colleges in cotton states.
(My comment from yesterday) ~ Supposedly Angela Corey states this is not motivated by the media or the radicals demanding this. In her press conference I saw her as being biased. But that is JUST my take. She was JUST to danged please with her self & lauding it to Trayvon’s parents.
Thanks for Breitbart & this video of LaLa Angela. It’s like she skipped in/out of announcement in pigtails in her singsong annoying voice.! Meh!
WFTV was at the scene when George Zimmerman arrived at the Seminole County jail and was booked on a charge of second-degree murder for the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.
Neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman is being charged with second-degree murder in the shooting of Trayvon Martin, the unarmed black teenager whose death ignited nationwide protests.
Special prosecutor Angela Corey says that the 28-year-old Zimmerman is in custody. She wouldn’t disclose Zimmerman’s whereabouts for his safety, but said that he will be in court within 24 hours.
Corey says that authorities did not come to the decision lightly, nor was it based on public pressure. A second-degree murder charge in Florida carries a maximum sentence of life in prison. It is typically charged when there is a fight or other confrontation that results in death and where there is no premeditated plan to kill someone.
Meanwhile, the parents of Trayvon Martin said charges against George Zimmerman in the fatal shooting their son would start the healing process, but they won’t stop fighting until he’s convicted.

It is unclear what charges he will face. But a press conference is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. ET in Jacksonville, Fla. where Corey will “release new information” regarding the investigation, according to a press release.
Back in February 2009, CNBC’s Rick Santelli launched a nationwide firestorm when he spoke out from the floor of the Chicago Board of Trade about the federal government run wild and President Obama’s mortgage plan, calling for a Chicago Tea Party in July of that year.
Today, Santelli again spoke truth to the American people when he explained why the President’s “Buffett Rule” does nothing to solve America’s fiscal crisis.
Rep. Allen West said he’s heard that almost half of all the Democrats in Congress are secretly part of the Communist Party. West told almost 100 Floridians in Palm City on Tuesday that “he’s heard” as many as 80 Democrats in Congress are members of the Communist Party.
Congressman Allen West will be running for re-election in a new seat (FL-18), West states that, when asked how many members of the Democratic Party are card-carrying Marxist Socialists, that he believes that they are 78-81 members (in Congress) of the Democratic Party who belong to the Communist Party.
