BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC)- Hundreds of people across the state are saying they heard a loud boom this afternoon, one reportedly powerful enough to shake walls, windows and entire homes.

The reports are coming in from multiple counties, including Bibb, Coosa, Chilton, Limestone, Jefferson, Tuscaloosa, Walker and Shelby.

The Chilton County Sheriff’s Office says they have received hundreds of calls reporting the boom. Chief Deputy Shane Mayfield told Fox 6 there are no reports of any explosions on the ground.

“Our best guess is it’s a sonic boom of some type,” Mayfield said.

The U.S. Geological Survey has no reports of an earthquake in the state.

Fox 6 meteorologist J-P Dice says the loud sound was likely a sonic boom in the Birmingham Military Operating Area.

People on our MyFoxAl Facebook page are chiming in as well, commenting on where they were when they heard the loud boom.

~ I first started hearing these reports 2 hrs. ago from James Spann on Twitter. And James FB Being we have so much fracking here in Jasper, I wouldn’t know. Also the reports are from counties that a bit away in counties Southeast of us. We are in Walker county but I think those that felt this are in SE Walker County. There is a lot of speculation and I will put updates in comments and follow my retweets.

RaeLynn vs. Adley Stump: “Free Fallin’”

Not my choice…Bah! JUST not as good as my girl was! This girl was Miranda’s choice NOT Blake’s! Miranda is suppose to ‘coach’ not choose. Blake said she SO reminded him of his wife. FIX!

Miranda Lambert mentors RaeLynn while Kelly Clarkson coaches Adley Stump as they prepare to do battle.

Angie Johnson vs. Cheesa Laureta: “Total Eclipse of the Heart”

Cee-Lo got this wrong too! Although I also loved both BUT come on now CeeLo! Looking for a rocker chick.

Chris Cauley vs. Tony Lucca: “Beautiful Day”

Either would have been good for me. But I also feel this was a fix considering…I did prefer the tones in Chris’ voice…

Jesse vs. Anthony: “If I Ain’t Got You”

Now THIS was a true ‘ Battle’ and was the right choice, albiet the fact he is a bit cocky…

Chris Mann vs. Monique Benabou: “The Power of Love”

Again, the right choice :)

Jordis vs. Brian Fuente: “Ironic”

Blake is screwing things up… picking artist only by there looks and now with this song choice i mean seriously? – Chicley

This was a bad song choice, for both of them but again wrong choice…

Slovenian storm chaser Marko Korosec chased the intense dust storms in western Slovenia in early February this year. After quite a mild winter, the pattern became more progressive and brought extreme polar airmass into large parts of Europe. Numerous countries experienced record breaking snow storms, while Adriatic coast and west Slovenia faced extreme hurricane force Bora winds. Wind gusts were often reaching 150-200 km/h which has never happened before.

Usually such events occur once per 1-3 years, while recently there were 4 of such extreme Bora events in a 10 day period–certainly a historic winter! With combinations of very low temperatures, windchills were often well below -30 degrees C. Marko chased all of those events, where the most intense was the last one, causing major dust storms including dust devils/vortices as can be seen in the video.

These dust storms resulted in major agriculture/property damage at the end. Numerous buildings and roofs were severely damaged, the arable fields have lost all the land for crops. Thankfully no one was hurt.

Oh man… this is just cringeworthy.

Just before Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich was set to make an appearance at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee conference via video-stream, ABC News caught the former Speaker of the House taking a quick nap.

Perhaps worn out by campaigning or just psyching himself up for his big speech, Gingrich is seen closing his eyes for a good minute.

That’s not the bad part, though, and it’s actually weirdly calming.

But then things go bad. After being introduced before AIPAC, Gingrich tells the audience: “I understand you have a panel. I look forward to any questions.”

Only thing is, there was no panel. Oops.

Twelve excruciating seconds later, the moderate gently reminds the speaker that there is no panel, to which Gingrich improvises: “Let me just say – I say this pretty briefly, I think. We need a fundamental reassessment of our entire understanding of the threat of radical Islam.”

Nice save… Sort of.

But who, really, is Fluke? I’m certainly not going to launch some grand investigation to come up with an answer to that question. It’s not worth the time. But I have run across some interesting little tidbits about the proggie heroine of the hour, so I’ll share them with you.

Sandra Fluke is on Twitter under the Twitter name @SandraFluke. As of 7:40 last evening the following can be gleaned from her Twitter account:

Fluke has authored 42 Tweets to her followers. Her first Tweet was sent on February 17th. That Tweet read: “Thank you for supporting women’s voices &women’s issues! Follow me for updates on the #contraception struggle.”

Wait a minute here …. Struggle? How many of you knew that there was a contraceptive struggle? Contraceptives are available free to fully 95% of American women. If you don’t want to pay for your pills just head to the nearest government clinic or Planned Parenthood office. There’s one within 1.7 miles of Fluke’s school. The other 5% of American women just have to drive from their rural homes to an urban area to get their hands on their pills.

Back to Sandra’s Tweets:

Throughout her Tweeting Fluke consistently refers to her appearance with Nancy Pelosi as a “hearing” and to her statements as “testimony.” It was not a hearing, and she did not testify. She was never under oath. It was a meeting with some Democrats and she spoke. That’s it.

When Fluke opened her Twitter account the VERY FIRST person she followed was MSNBC’s Rachael Maddow. Now that tells you something about Fluke. She’s a leftist activist, not some innocent little law student who just can’t afford birth control pills.

The SECOND person Fluke followed on Twitter was none other than Ed Schultz. Interesting, isn’t it? As soon as Fluke elected to follow Maddow, she then chose as No. 2 a man who referred to a female conservative talk show host as a “slut.” Sound familiar? Apparently Ms. Fluke is only outraged when a conservative calls a liberal a slut.

On Feb. 23rd, the day Fluke spoke before that Pelosi Panel, Ed Schultz Tweeted “Sandra Fluke finally allowed to testify on #birthcontrol before Congress, 1 week after appearing on #ed show.” Schultz, of course, got this wrong. First, as I’ve already pointed out, it wasn’t testimony. Second, it wasn’t before Congress. It was before some Democrats gathered by Nancy Pelosi. It’s no surprise that Schultz got that wrong. He’s raised “getting it wrong” to an art form. But Sandra Fluke eagerly Re-Tweeted Schultz’s remarks … and seems not to be the least bit concerned that Schultz uses the same “S” word that was used against her.

The last two people Fluke has decided to follow are Barack Obama and Michael Moore. Of course she also follows Nancy Pelosi. I don’t have a stomach strong enough for that.

~ If you notice we here at JUST Piper have been staying away from the Fluke story. The only reason I posted this is because the libs have turned this into some sort of cause and are trying to fire Rush. Look, if you want to protect yourself from sex or if you want to be promiscuous, supply yourself! I did. Most women do. We don’t have the face of entitlement. Notice this issue was laughed at until Rick Santorum was ‘tricked’ into bringing it up. But now the left has gone ‘Fluked’. Bah!

She jazzes up the pronunciation of her name. Call it what it is – a “FLUKE”. Average BC cost monthly is $9 x 12 it comes to an average of $108 a year. She went to Georgetown on scholarship. She wants to play but not pay and WE are suppose to believe this is some sort of movement. I care not!

And Sandra one word for you: A B S T I N E N C E! 100% full proof!

Wall Street took its worst fall of the year as doubts over whether Greece will be able to coax enough creditors into partaking in a critical debt swap swelled, sending traders dashing out of equity markets and into perceived shelters.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 204 points, or 1.6%, to 12759, the S&P 500 dipped 21 points, or 1.5%, to 1343 and Nasdaq Composite slumped 40.2 points, or 1.4%, to 2910.

All but one Dow component ended in the red, led by Caterpillar (CAT: 105.93, -4.16, -3.78%), the world’s biggest maker of heavy machinery maker, which fell 4.1%, costing the blue-chip index more than 30 points on its own. Other major point drags included IBM (IBM: 197.26, -3.40, -1.69%), 3M (MMM: 84.95, -2.11, -2.42%) and United Technologies (UTX: 81.39, -1.90, -2.28%).

Volatility shot up by 15.6% as tracked by the CBOE’s VIX, while traders bid up safe-haven U.S. Treasury bonds. The benchmark 10-year yield dropped 0.056-percentage points to 1.948%.

Looking at the broader markets, materials, financial and industrial shares took the biggest beating. The utility sector was spared the brunt of the selling, while consumer staples and technology companies also mildly outperformed on the day.

Stocks sold off on Tuesday after the reemerging threat of a Greek default and the specter of another recession for the already beleaguered eurozone sent traders darting out of risky assets.

As of 9:00 a.m. ET, Dow Jones Industrial Average futures fell 114 points to 12847, S&P 500 futures dipped 13.5 points to 1351 and Nasdaq 100 futures slumped 22 points to 2594.

The eurozone’s economy shrunk by 0.3% in the final quarter of 2011, Eurostat confirmed on Tuesday, compared with a 0.1% gain in the previous quarter. The currency bloc’s economic output expanded at a pace of 1.4% for all of 2011, slower than a previous estimate of 1.5%.

Household spending and investment both took big hits as consumers and companies struggled against strong headwinds from the debt crisis. Economists are expecting another contraction in the first quarter of 2012, meaning the eurozone would officially be back in recession territory for the second time in three years.

“Despite some recent overall improvement in [eurozone] surveys and evidence that Germany is returning to growth, we doubt that the [eurozone] will be able to avoid further contraction in the first quarter of 2012 and very possibly the second,” IHS Global Insight Chief European and UK Economist Howard Archer wrote in an e-mail.

All together, the European Union countries make one of the world’s biggest economies, meaning a drastic pullback there could lead to weakness abroad. Analysts also worry about the growing divergence between expansion in the core countries, like Germany, and the embattled periphery.

This isn’t just a string of bad luck

We’ve heard a lot of talk about change this year
The real question is: change to what?
Change is a president who puts you first
And that’s what this election’s all about

We were told four years ago
Real change We were told four years ago
That’s why we need change
We were told four years ago
Real change

How’s that hope and change working out for you?
Did it give you all that you want it to?
Did it lead you into the promised land?
Next time you step inside of the voting booth
Maybe you will think of the honest truth
Instead of raising a foolish man
At this defining moment all across America
Here’s what I believe we need to do
We can fast track a plan – create millions of jobs
Our troubled ecomony isn’t news

We were told four years ago
That’s why we need change

Next time you step inside of the voting booth

Instead of raising a foolish man
I know that we can steer ourselves out of this crisis
We’ve met tough challenges before
We can stop spending billions once and for all
And put millions of Americans to work

Well Now let’s set the record straight
Those who would trade our freedom for security have embarked on this downward course
We’ve raised our debt, we haven’t balanced our budget
The assault on freedom carries on
The trouble with our liberal friends is not their ignorance
They know so much that isn’t so Each year the need grows greater – the program grows greater
The more the plans fail the more the planners plan
How’s that hope and change working out for you?
Did it give you all that you want it to?
Did it lead you into the promised land?
Next time you step inside of the voting booth
Maybe you will think of the honest truth
Instead of raising a foolish man

Sources inform Breitbart.com today that Pam Dickler, director of the 1998 production of The Love Song of Saul Alinsky in Chicago that included a panel discussion featuring then-State Sen. Barack Obama, has a video tape of the play.

And she won’t release it.

“There is only one archive tape of the play and I have it,” Dickler informed our source. “It is not in Chicago.”

~ So, with this lie, why will she not release it?! Libs so infuriate me!

Dickler told our source that she doesn’t believe she’s ever watched the tape, and she doesn’t know if it “can be viewed.” But she added: “No one is going to see the tape.”

She said she felt “very protective over it … due to all of the interest from conservatives recently.” She also told our source that the poster for the play was never supposed to be distributed.

Dickler added that there were no transcripts of the panel discussion.

“They didn’t know he was going to go on to become the president,” she said. “If they had known that, they would have of course kept any transcripts, but there were never any taken.”

Mainstream journalists have attempted to dismiss yesterday’s column by Andrew Breitbart about the play by claiming that Obama had merely attended the production–a defense hinted at by Chicago Reader columnist Michael Miner’s initial column.

However–as even Miner noted–Obama did not merely attend the play; he was featured on the poster and in the panel discussion that followed.

So, if the play’s so harmless, why are Obama’s allies hiding it?

Why not release the video tape?

EXCLUSIVE: It was one of the hottest days of the year and evening temperatures were still sweltering when two FBI agents wearing bulletproof vests under their dark suits climbed the stairs of the Jacob Riis housing complex in New York’s Lower East Side on June 7, 2011. Drenched in sweat, they knocked on the steel door of a sixth-floor unit. It swung open to reveal a man in his late twenties wearing jeans and a white T-shirt.

“I’m Hector,” he said.

The agents were suddenly face-to-face with “Sabu,” the computer genius they had stalked for months, a quarry so elusive they hadn’t pinned down his identity and location until just weeks before. The suspected ringleader of the Anonymous offshoot group LulzSec, Hector Xavier Monsegur and his web minions had just completed a month-long reign of terror, hacking the CIA, Fox, Sony and several financial institutions, causing, according to some estimates, billions of dollars in damage around the world.

The nondescript public housing unit seemed an unlikely nerve center for one of the world’s most wanted criminal masterminds, but the 28-year-old Monsegur himself is a study in such contradictions. An unemployed computer programmer, welfare recipient and legal guardian of two young children, Monsegur did not go to college and is a self-taught hacker. Although his skills and intellect could command a lucrative salary in the private sector, those who know him say he is lazy, an underachiever complacent with his lifestyle.

“He’s extremely intelligent,” a law enforcement official said. “Brilliant, but lazy.”

It was the laziness that got him.

~ This came to me from Pamm, thank you! Is this footage Andrew Breitbart included in his Obama Tapes?~ JP

The footage that Andrew Breitbart planned to release just hours after his untimely death would have proven hugely damaging to President Obama’s re-election hopes, because it shows Obama fraternizing with Weather Underground terrorists whose goal it was to set up a Communist dictatorship inside the United States.

~ Today’s Featured Post: The Vetting, Part I: Barack’s Love Song To Alinsky

This video shows an interview of Larry Grathwohl who was an FBI agent assigned to investigate the Weather Underground. William Ayers is the founder of the Weather Underground. This man is speaking about William Ayers. It was in William Ayers’ livingroom that Barack Obama launched his political career.

Grathwohl stated that Ayers and his group planned to deal with Americans who would try to resist this takeover by “establishing re-education centers in the south-west”.

“Do you think it’s possible that he was executed, assassinated by some nefarious forces in America – have we now become South America in the 1970′s where people start to disappear?,” asked Savage, speculating that Breitbart could have been surreptitiously injected with a substance that triggered a heart attack, or had an electronic device beamed at his chest.
