Con Ed has given the Ground Zero mosque an ultimatum: Pay the $1.7 million you owe in back rent, or we’ll terminate your lease and take back our property.
Con Ed and mosque developer Park51 have an unusual, uneasy alliance, sharing ownership of a site slated to be one of the most controversial projects in city history.
The utility owns a former substation on the western half of the property, at 51 Park Place, and the mosque developers own a five-story building on the eastern half. The buildings were connected years ago and used to house a Burlington Coat Factory store.
Park51, which leases the substation from Con Ed, wants the two buildings so it can knock both down and build a $100 million, 15-story community center.
But the plan hit a major obstacle in August when Con Ed raised the rent from $2,750 a month, a rate set in 1972, to $47,437 a month, retroactive to July 31, 2008, The Post has learned.
When the mosque failed to fork over the $1.7 million, the utility fired off a letter demanding the money by Oct. 4 and threatening to evict.
Park51 principals responded with a lawsuit to stop the increase, calling Con Ed’s rent demands “outrageous.”
Court papers show that the appraised price for the Con Ed property is $10.7 million. But Gamal contends Con Ed’s math was faulty when it calculated the rent, saying it owes only $881,519 in back rent and should have to pay $25,875 a month going forward.
Gamal got a court order to temporarily prevent Con Ed from ending his lease. A hearing is set for Nov. 17.
October 15, 2011 – Protesters at Saturday’s Occupy Portland demonstration vented some of their anger at the capitalist system by setting the phrase “F*** the U.S.A.” to music and performing it. With a jester hat-wearing guitarist, shirtless drummer and heavily bearded, long-haired bassist, the pick-up band was not short on characters. There were no other lyrics, so it’s unclear what exactly the participants wanted or hoped to achieve.
Marx Called Down Revolution & Barack Answered–“Yes!”
Need to Know: Marxist Matrix of Occupy Protesters, Obama & George Soros: The Devil’s Symphony?
Are the Occupy Protests really the inscrutable uprising the mainstream media claims? Or, are they instead the work of mad tycoon George Soros and his rent-a-puppet Barack? We can hardly be blamed to see a connect when we detect a connecting, central motif—Marxism. The Occupy Protests are presented as the organic polar opposite of the Tea Party protests, arising of their own impetus as logically as weeds erupting in an empty field. But the central Marxist anti-capitalist message of Occupy argue against this.
Further, when listening to the very weird and cult-like call-and-answer which these groups use, one can only sense the underlying group-think structure driving these idealistic yet confused souls into action. The strange fixation on Marxism of George Soros and Obama, attaching them to Occupy’s anti-capitalist anarchism are the topics of this essay.
I. Outline of Marxism
A brief description of Marxism is offered here to help understand the ideas and actions of Soros, Obama and the Occupy movement. From another article by this author, a thumbnail of the belief:
Marxists insist life merely concerns proper distribution of wealth. Only two classes matter: rich and poor. The poor are pure, but the rich devilish, since they effectively steal wealth through Capitalism. The government must redistribute money to the poor, since God doesn’t exist to protect mankind. Workers will eventually rise up to overthrow oppressive bosses.
After capitalism collapses, comes then socialism, but only temporarily. Finally communism is established, and all private property abolished. Peace on earth will reign as envy and war disappear when all people have the same status in society. Marx’s Communist Manifesto states, “The theory of the Communists may be summed up in a single sentence: Abolition of private property.”
Note that the Wikipedia descriptions are obviously written by someone left-leaning:
~ This is a very important breakdown of all of us seeing the very first generation of Socialist America. McCarthy was laughed out of Congress in the 50’s due to his belief of anti-communist activities in our country. Specifically Hollywood. Does this sound far fetched now?
Simply stated, during the McCarthy era, thousands of Americans were accused of being Communists or communist sympathizers and became the subject of aggressive investigations and questioning before government or private-industry panels, committees and agencies. The primary targets of such suspicions were government employees, those in the entertainment industry, educators and union activists. Well, in retrospect what is ‘blowing smoke’ about this as it applies today?!
In the article cited above JUST look at the highlights:
* B. Presuming Economic Imbalance is a Criminal Act
The accumulation of wealth at one pole of society involves a simultaneous accumulation of poverty, labor, torment, slavery, ignorance, brutalization, and moral degradation, at the opposite pole—where dwells the class that produces its own product in the form of capital.
* C. Dedication to Revolution
The prerequisite to communist revolution is advanced capitalism, a state which has never actually given birth to such a result. One of the truly fascinating aspects from the period of 20th century when Marxist revolutions were occurring across the globe was how these rebellions were often not uprisings of natives. Writes Robert Tucker in The Marxian Revolutionary Idea,
The communist regimes of Mongolia, North Korea, Bulgaria, Rumania, Hungary, Poland, East Germany, and Czechoslovakia did not come to power in basically indigenous revolutions. These communist revolutions were imposed from outside.

This comprehensive article by Kelly O’Connell is the best contained data on Soros. It’s lengthy but outstanding. Click image to read it in it’s entirety…
I read this article by Big Government. Check this out below via a leaked Occupy email first posted by Big Government. Not long ago, Howard Dean was viewed as a viable presidential candidate by the Democrat establishment, and the group he started, Democracy for America, is by no means seen as fringe by American media.
“We currently find ourselves in Phase 3. Senior members of the White House administration, and the President himself, have expressed support for OWS. Democracy for America, a Howard Dean initiated group just sent an email blast to more than a million members tonight selling yard signs that say “We Are the 99%” with co-branded urls: OccupyWallSt.org and DemocracyforAmerica.org/occupy. OWS is embraced by the establishment as a means to amplify existing agendae(sic). Bloomberg gives tacit “permission” for our occupation, effectively rendering it non-threatening and normalizing it. Result is rise in media coverage of occupation as nuisance to neighbors.
Big Government and aligned blogs, (As we do here at JUST Piper) as is now just beginning to be demonstrated here, will continue to do their job in providing American media consumers with pertinent facts and information they have a right to know. It remains to be seen if the so-called mainstream media is prepared to do their job by reporting objectively on the American Left, Obama and the Democrat political establishment – a job they never did do well, if at all, during the election of 2008.
~ In conclusion: This is serious. What many of us have known for decades is seeing completion. It began when I was JUST born and as many subjects today, the left called it blasphemy and said those truthsayers were already being accused of being ‘conspiracy theorists’. The other American’s need to take their blinders off & see the danger being left to future generations! ~ JP
Hundreds of protestors who refused to leave Grant Park after it closed were arrested early Sunday after a march from the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago to the Downtown park.
More than 2,000 people marched and set up two-dozen tents in the park with the goal of staying the night to draw attention to corporate abuse and to express solidarity with the Occupy Wall Street movement.
Others promised to return to Grant Park after being released.
“We are coming back as soon as we get out,” said 23-year-old DePaul Ph.D. student Ashley Bohrer. “It is a matter of civil disobedience. We’re simply enacting our first amendment rights. We’re a completely non-violent movement. We will go peacefully if cops violate our rights to speech and assembly.”
Chicago Police told the hundreds of protestors who remained in the park near East Congress Parkway and South Michigan Avenue after the 11 p.m. closing to leave. Just before 1 a.m., police closed Michigan Avenue, used tower lights to illuminate the tents and hundreds of officers approached the group while open police wagons waited.
The protestors formed a human chain then formed a circle about three-people deep around the tents. Police asked each protestor to leave the park or else they would be arrested.
By 1:30 a.m. police made enough arrests to start breaking down the tents.
The protestors, who initially chanted “C.P.D. Shame on you,” began chanting “Get your own tents.”
Chicago Police initially said about 100 protestors were arrested and were awaiting final numbers early Sunday. Occupy Chicago said on its Twitter page that more than 200 were arrested.
