I stand here in abject stupefaction. The so-called “right” or “Tea Party” in this republic is being so thoroughly rolled and defeated that I am struggling to come up with an adequate violent submission metaphor that does not involve prison rape . . . and they honesty think that they’re “winning.” Really? You call this winning?

Rep. Chaffetz Ensuring Bills Will Be Debated At ‘Pledge To America’

Rep. Jason Chaffetz discussing how bills will be posted online for 72 hours before coming to a vote as part of the GOP ‘Pledge To America’.

~ Yay! Like, WHAT happened to this Jason? So then the GOP transparency is about as good as the left. Quit insulting our intelligence! WE are NOT STUPID! WE hear you LOUD and CLEAR:

The 2012 budget: At one point in the negotiations, the 2012 budget was to be slashed by $36 billion. The final number of cuts: just $7 billion. And just to ensure we don’t have another bruising government shutdown fight over cuts in September, the deal deems and passes the 2012 budget. Yes, that’s right, the old Gephardt Rule or Slaughter Solution, is back. What’s deem and pass? It’s a legislative trick that essentially means that Congress will consider the budget passed without ever actually having to vote on it.

The trigger: This is counterintuitive, but the trigger is actually pretty good for Democrats. For all that MoveOn thinks that it would force benefit cuts to Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security, it actually wouldn’t trigger benefit cuts to any entitlements. The only cuts it would force would be a 2% or more haircut for Medicare providers. And House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, along with most Democrats, has never opposed provider cuts. Not only that, most progressives actually want the Pentagon cuts. So if the committee deadlocks and the trigger is pulled, Democrats won’t be miserable.

The commission: Again, for all the liberal carping about a “Super Congress,” the commission of 12 members — three from each party in each chamber — set up to find the second phase of $1.5 trillion in cuts by Thanksgiving is actually rigged to force some revenue increases. Yes, the Bush tax cuts are off the table. But there are plenty of loops holes, subsidies and other corporate welfare programs that are on the table. And with such a strong trigger, it’s hard to imagine at least one Republican not voting to kill corporate jet subsidies over slashing $500 billion from the defense budget – even if the revenues aren’t offset. The question is: who are Republicans more afraid of, Grover Norquist or the joint chiefs? Democrats’ money is on the joint chiefs.

At the end of the day it’s our Kids and their kids who are going to have to pay off the Washington Spending Spree. Think about it! Washington is getting ready to add a couple of more Trillion to the National Debt with the debt ceiling and all the cuts they talk about will still make the Debt over 20 Trillion Dollars within 10 years. And yes that does not include the unfunded liabilities. America needs leadership not games. Call Washington and tell them it’s time to stop spending our future.

More than 20 protesters were arrested Monday afternoon after causing a disruption in the House gallery as lawmakers debated the debt-reduction deal negotiated by the White House and congressional leaders.

Capitol Police spokeswoman Sgt. Kimberly Schneider said 22 protesters were arrested and charged with disruption of Congress.

The protesters, who were sitting in one of the visitors’ galleries overlooking the Republican side of the chamber, unfurled a large black banner and began chanting against the debt-limit compromise.

They chanted several slogans, including: “Boehner, get off it; it’s time to tax corporate profits.” It appeared that after one officer tried to yank the banner from the group, a protester either took a tumble or dove over the row of seats in front.

“We have an injury!” someone said.

Washington and the beltway are in an ecstasy of self-congratulation. What we, as Patriots, are going to do about this travesty, this multiplicity of prevarication foisted on us by our own leadership, has yet to be seen, but if the mass of melted copper that used to comprise the Capitol’s phone systems is any indication, the proverbial ‘merde’ is about to hit the fan.

STEWARTSTOWN, N.H. (AP) – Authorities say the body of an 11-year-old New Hampshire girl who disappeared nearly a week ago has been found in a river less than half a mile from her home.

Divers found Celina Cass’s body Monday morning near a hydroelectric dam that spans the Connecticut River between her hometown of Stewartstown, N.H., and Canaan, Vt.

Prosecutor Jane Young confirmed the identity at a news conference Monday night.

~ Suicide attempt? Admission of Guilt?

WMUR-TV reports that Celina’s stepfather, Wendell Noyes, was taken by ambulance Monday morning to Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital. The reason for his hospitalization is not yet known.

Investigators Treating Girl’s Death As Suspicious

CANAAN, Vt. — A body has been found by a dam on the Connecticut River by teams searching for a missing 11-year-old girl.

Crews searched an area near the Canaan Hydro-Dam as investigators continued to look for clues in the disappearance of 11-year-old Celina Cass, who was last seen in her West Stewartstown, N.H., home on July 25.

Essex County state attorney Vincent Illuzzi said a female body was found near the dam, but no identification had been made.

At about 10:45 a.m. Monday, a dive team came up from the water, and shortly after, other investigators and Assistant Attorney General Jane Young went to the scene. The media were asked to leave the area.

Roads on the Canaan side of the river were closed off, blocking the view of the river.

Monday afternoon, several of Celina’s relatives had gathered at her home and could be seen crying.

The FBI has offered a $25,000 reward for information leading to the location of Celina and the arrest and prosecution of a suspect.

A separate $5,000 reward from an anonymous citizen was announced for anyone who can provide information leading to her whereabouts.

Celina’s family said they last saw her at her computer shortly before she went to bed the night of July 25. The next morning when they went to wake her up, she was gone.

Her disappearance led to a massive law enforcement effort involving more than 50 FBI agents and an equal number of officials from state and local police, search crews and dive teams. Investigators have said that they had received hundreds of tips but few solid leads.

Over the weekend, Celina’s father, Adam Laro, pleaded for her safe return. Monday morning, her stepfather, Wendell Noyes, was taken by ambulance to Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital.

–Sen. Marco Rubio spoke on the Senate floor last night to discuss the Senate’s budget delay. While the House of Representatives has now passed three separate plans to change the nation’s debt trajectory and deal with the debt limit deadline, the Democrat-controlled Senate has refused to pass a budget in over two years, and has not presented one at all this year.

Rubio said that “this has been the plan all along, by the way. The plan all along was not to take a position, to let the days count down until we got to this point with 72 hours to go, and then force a vote on something that they wanted… You want to know why people all across America get grossed out by politics? It’s by watching this kind of stuff happen.”
