Gunman’s Background Puzzles Police in Norway

Norway Gunman Fired For 1.5 Hours On Island

:: ‘Madman’ Eyed in Norway Massacre ::

SUNDVOLLEN, Norway — The 32-year-old man suspected in bomb and shooting attacks that killed at least 91 people in Norway bought six tons of fertilizer before the massacres, the supplier said Saturday as police investigated witness accounts of a second shooter.

Norway’s prime minister and royal family visited grieving relatives of the scores of youth gunned down in a horrific killing spree on an idyllic island retreat. A man who said he was carrying a knife was detained by police officers outside the hotel, as the shell-shocked Nordic nation was gripped by reports that Norwegian gunman may not have acted alone.

Witnesses Suggest Second Shooter Involved in Norway Youth Camp Rampage

Norway’s national news agency says police are investigating whether a second suspect was involved in a shooting spree on an island where 84 people were killed.

Police have arrested one man on preliminary charges in the massacre and a bombing in Oslo hours earlier.

NTB is reporting Saturday that witnesses told police two people were involved in the shooting on Utoya island. The agency says police are looking into it.

The agency says that the second man apparently wasn’t disguised in police uniform. The man under arrest was wearing a sweater with a police emblem on it.

In total, 91 people were killed in the two attacks.

The man told reporters he was a member of the Labor Party’s youth wing and was carrying a knife “because I feel unsafe.”

Norway Attacks: Anders Behring Breivik Reported as Suspect

The suspect arrested for twin terror attacks in Norway Friday has been identified as Anders Behring Breivik, according to media reports in the U.K. and Norway.

Police believe the 32-year-old, six-foot-plus Norwegian acted alone in the bombing of government offices in Oslo and an assault with firearms on a island youth camp less than a hour from the capital.

A man fitting Breivik’s description was reportedly seen in the area of the bombing prior to the explosion.

Norwegian television said that Breivik belongs to right-wing circles in Oslo, and a Swedish newspaper has reported the Breivik has posted on right-wing forums in Norway.

Norwegian media has linked Breivik to a Facebook account in which the poster described himself as a Christian conservative.

At least 17 people are known dead in the two attacks. Seven were killed in the central Oslo bombing, which damaged the office of Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg.

On the island of Utoya, where Stoltenberg’s Labour Party runs a youth camp, at least 10 are dead. A witness reported 20 bodies on the island’s shoreline.

There were more than 500 campers on the island when a man dressed as a policeman appeared and began firing two hours after the Oslo bombing.

Teens were seen jumping into the water and swimming away from the island to escape the attack. Explosives were found on Utoya after the suspect was arrested and taken into custody.

A new promotional video released by the Department of Homeland Security characterizes white middle class Americans as the most likely terrorists, as Big Sis continues its relentless drive to cement the myth that mad bombers are hiding around every corner, when in reality Americans are just as likely to be killed by lightning strikes or peanut allergies.

DHS has confirmed this is their video but adamantly deny there are any racial or politically correct overtones to it.

A mass-grave of alleged pro-Gaddafi soldiers has been discovered in a rebel-controlled area in Libya, according to British newspaper The Telegraph. The location was swiftly bulldozed after the discovery, suggesting an attempt to cover-up the killings. The bodies were reportedly mutilated, adding to the recent concerns of human rights abuses by rebels. Such crimes are being swept under the carpet to support NATO’s cause in the region – so says Sukan Chandan, a spokesman for the British Civilians For Peace in Libya movement.

OSLO, Norway – A homegrown terrorist set off an explosion that ripped open buildings in the heart of Norway’s government Friday, then went to a summer camp dressed as a police officer and gunned down youths as they ran and even swam for their lives, police said Friday.

Police say at least 80 people were killed in a shooting spree at the youth camp of Norway’s Labor Party. Police told reporters early Saturday they had discovered many more victims after initially reporting the death toll at 10.

A police official said the 32-year-old ethnic Norwegian suspect arrested at the camp on Utoya island appears to have acted alone in both attacks, and that “it seems like that this is not linked to any international terrorist organizations at all.” The official spoke on condition of anonymity because that information had not been officially released by Norway’s police.

“It seems it’s not Islamic-terror related,” the official said. “This seems like a madman’s work.”

…Bomb Tears Through Norwegian Capital Buildings as Gunman Opens Fire at Youth Camp

OSLO, Norway – A bomb ripped open buildings in the heart of Norway’s government Friday, and a man dressed as a police officer opened fire at an island youth camp connected to the ruling party. At least seven people were killed in the blast and nine more in the camp shootings, the peaceful nation’s worst violence since World War II.

Oslo police said 9 or 10 people were killed at the camp on Utoya island, where the youth wing of the Labor Party was holding a summer camp for hundreds of youths. Acting Police Chief Sveinung Sponheim says a man was arrested in the shooting, and the suspect had been observed in Oslo before the explosion there.

OSLO (Reuters) – A huge explosion wrecked government buildings in central Oslo on Friday including Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg’s office, injuring several people, a Reuters journalist said from the scene. One person was confirmed dead, Norwegian
broadcaster NRK reported.

The cause of the blast was unknown but the tangled wreckage of a car was outside one building and the damage appeared consistent to witnesses with that from car bombs. Police and fire officials declined comment on the cause.
