Court resumes 8:30 a.m. Monday. Will there be State Fireworks?
If you’ve been with me throughout this trial, you know I have nicknamed Jeff Ashton Fireworks. Judge Perry makes ‘executive decision’ and ends proceedings for the day. IMO I think this was wise. The jury was fidgety & bored. I was lucky enough not to sit through the majority of Jose’s confusion. I deliberately tuned out on Mason’s hurrah. So I will be fresh & look forward to Linda Drane Burdick. The Prosecution was smart reserving the majority of its time for a fresh jury. I saw Jose whisper to Casey. Casey began getting herself worked up (feigning I should say}. I was waiting for her to fake pass-out, scream, something & then kaboom Judge Perry makes his decision to end for the day. She had a shocked look, like I missed my cue. I may be reading too much into this, but I like relying on instinct. ~JP
Anthony: Florida’s closing arguments
After hours of closing arguments, the jury in the first-degree murder case of Casey Anthony has heard the last it will hear from the defense. And rather than let prosecutors present their rebuttal closings this evening — Chief Judge Belvin Perry made an “executive decision” to end proceedings for the day.
The defense team’s closings were at times contentious and prompted the judge – in a very unusual move – to halt the proceedings while he considered contempt charges against both sides.
Perry decided against sanctioning the attorneys, but warned future violations would not be tolerated.
