Michele Bachmann used the song ‘American Girl’ from Tom Petty following her announcement today that she’s running for president.

NBC’s Kelly O’Donnell reported:

“When Bachmann left the stage (today in Waterloo), her campaign played the Tom Petty hit song ‘American Girl,’ turns out Petty isn’t pleased, his manager says they will ask the Bachmann campaign to not to use that song, they also asked George Bush not to use any of his music. But Hillary Clinton did use ‘American Girl’ throughout her campaign in 2008″

At least six suicide bombers have entered the Intercontinental hotel in Kabul, a U.S. official told Fox News.

Afghanistan news agency TOLOnews is reporting at least 10 people have been killed. That number has yet to be independently confirmed.

Streets leading to the Intercontinental hotel are blocked.

“It’s an attack on the Intercontinental Hotel. There are several gunmen shooting,” Kabul criminal investigations chief Mohammad Zahir told AFP.

He said “a number” of police had been wounded.

Azizullah, an Afghan police officer who uses only one name, told The Associated Press at the scene that at least one bomber entered the hotel Tuesday night and detonated a vest of explosives.

Jawid, a guest at the hotel, says the attack occurred as many people were having dinner in the hotel restaurant. He says he heard gunfire throughout the several story building.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack in telephone call to the AP.

The Associated Press and Newscore contributed to this report.

Obama 2012 campaign: President Obama himself makes an unexpected announcement about the upcoming “Dinner with Barack” contest.

To participate in the contest you need to donate at least $5 to the campaign and your name will be raffled off to enjoy a dinner with the President, airfare and accommodations included. In a new web video, Obama announced Vice President Joe Biden will also be attending the dinner.

There is one problem, however. This campaign ad was most likely recorded in the White House, which would violate FEC campaign finance laws.

WH Strongly Disputes Report:

In response to questions about whether the president and his political team had stayed safely on the legal side of the relevant statutes, White House officials made three arguments. First, they said, an open process for small donors to essentially win a raffle is not the kind of fundraising prohibited under the law — and the president didn’t make a direct appeal for donations, anyway. Second, they pointed to a longstanding advisory opinion from the Justice Department that differentiates between the residence portion of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. — where the aide said Obama had been filmed — and official rooms in the White House. Third, they said, Obama’s approach is in keeping with the practices of his predecessors.

“It’s no different than what happened under eight years of George Bush and eight years of Bill Clinton,” the official explained, speaking on background.

This assertion appears to be half-true.

The first interview of Roy Kronk, meter reader who found Caylee’s body in the woods just a short distance from the Anthony home on December 11, 2008.

Second Police Interview of Roy Kronk

This is the second interview law enforcement held with Roy Kronk, the Orange County meter reader who found Caylee’s body in the woods just a short distance from the Anthony home. Mr. Kronk found Caylee’s remains on December 11, 2008. The first interview was held December 17, ’08; this interview took place January 6, ’09.

Roy Kronk, who discovered Caylee Marie’s remains while working as an Orange County meter reader, took the stand this morning, appearing shortly after three members of the Anthony family testified in Casey Anthony’s murder trial.

Defense Attorney J. Cheney Mason quizzed Kronk about the discovery of the remains. But a lunch recess was called before Mason finished his questioning.

Kronk said he told authorities in August that he spotted something that looked like a skull in the woods near the Anthony family home. His co-workers were more interested in a dead rattlesnake.
