INDIANAPOLIS — Derrick Rose did it again.

He blew past Dahntay Jones to hit a go-ahead lefty layup with 17.8 seconds left. The Bulls’ defense did the rest, forcing Danny Granger into an awkward 3-point try that barely nicked the rim with less than five seconds to play.

The Bulls rebounded the miss, Ronnie Brewer knocked down a pair of free throws, and the Bulls had their third playoff victory — 84-80 — over Indiana in three games.

Not one win has been remotely easy, but it’s doubtful that the Bulls care.

They are one victory from meeting the winner of the Atlanta-Orlando series.

The Bulls shot just 38.9 percent, with Carlos Boozer (2-for-10) and Rose (4-for-18) leading Chicago’s way to brick city.

But Rose made the key plays down the stretch to help his team rally from a 70-65 deficit.

General Electric Co. reported a 77% increase in first-quarter earnings, lifted by marked improvement at its GE Capital financing arm and gains at most of its industrial units.

The company also boosted its quarterly dividend by a penny to 15 cents. The move marks GE’s third dividend increase in the past year, although the payout remains well short of GE’s 31-cent dividend before the financial crisis and economic downturn.

“Our environment continues to improve and get better,” said Chairman and Chief Executive Jeff Immelt on a call with analysts, noting that the restructuring of GE Capital was ahead of plan while the quarter saw record orders for its industrial unit.

Mr. Immelt also said the company was done with major acquisitions after spending $11 billion to expand its energy unit.

Fallen USMC Staff Sgt. Jason Rogers returns home to Brandon MS.

Staff Sgt. Jason Rogers came home Thursday, April 14 2011, his body borne upon a sea of waving American flags and hands held tightly in salute for the Brandon, MS Marine killed in Afghanistan earlier this month.

The following video is MHP Trooper Elmo Townsend’s view as his dash cam recorded the escort from Airport Road and along U.S. 80, as hundreds of onlookers gathered to pay their respects.

Song: Dress Blues by Jason Isbell

Rest in Peace, Staff Sgt. Jason Rogers.

On Saturday, USMC Staff Sgt. Jason Rogers, who was killed in action in Afghanistan April 7, was buried in Brandon, Mississippi…Why weren’t there protestors?

Planning ahead by the locals, as it turns out.

From an Ole Miss sports message board, a tidbit of information…

A couple of days before, one of them (Westboro protestors) ran his mouth at a Brandon gas station and got his arse waxed. Police were called and the beaten man could not give much of a description of who beat him. When they canvassed the station and spoke to the large crowd that had gathered around, no one seemed to remember anything about what had happened.

Rankin County handled this thing perfectly. There were many things that were put into place that most will never know about and at great expense to the county.

Most of the morons never made it out of their hotel parking lot. It seems that certain Rankin county pickup trucks were parked directly behind any car that had Kansas plates in the hotel parking lot and the drivers mysteriously disappeared until after the funeral was over. Police were called but their wrecker service was running behind and it was going to be a few hours before they could tow the trucks so the Kansas plated cars could get out.

A few made it to the funeral but were ushered away to be questioned about a crime they might have possibly been involved in. Turns out, after a few hours of questioning, that they were not involved and they were allowed to go on about their business.
