Mr. Christie Goes to Washington

~ Special thanks to AEI for making this entire speech available, simply one of his best!

American Enterprise

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie insists that he has no desire to head to the White House in 2012, but on Wednesday, the popular Republican will deliver a policy address just blocks away.

The outspoken Christie, hailed by many conservatives for his no-nonsense style, tough stance on unions and budget-consciousness, will speak at the American Enterprise Institute, a public policy think tank. As the budget battle rages on Capitol Hill, he is expected to tackle the controversy of the moment: Federal spending reductions.

“The general gist of the speech is to talk about the big issues the governor laid out in his State of the State speech,” a senior official in Governor Christie’s office tells Fox News. “Mainly restoring New Jersey’s fiscal sanity and tackling pension and benefit reform.”

The speech coincides with the Republican Governors Association’s announcement that Christie has been named Policy Vice Chairman, working alongside Policy Chairman and Republican heavy-hitter Haley Barbour. “The scope of the RGA’s efforts will intensify in the months ahead and Governor Christie will play an important role in helping lead that expansion,” RGA Chairman and Texas Governor Rick Perry said in a statement Wednesday morning.

And though Christie has repeatedly stated that his interests lie in New Jersey and not at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, polls suggest that his approach to governing resonates with conservatives nationwide. In a recent Fox News poll, 29 percent of Republicans said they think Christie would make a good president.

Official overtures for the Oval Office aside, a description of Christie’s speech provided to Fox News by Christie’s office suggests that it will take a national bent. The governor “will essentially set up a parallel – what he is doing, and other governors are doing, in the states is a way forward for both Democratic and Republican leaders on the national level to deal with their own federal budget and fiscal challenges,” the official says.

In Loving Memory…

Rhema’s mother Wendi whose Christian name is Mercy loved Rhema with all her heart. Wendi was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer when Rhema was just 3 years old till she was 6 years old at which time her mother went back to heaven 11/8/08. Most of Rhema’s memories with her mom were pleasant memories but revolved around surgery, multiple chemotherapy treatments, sickness and struggle. Wendi was a strong believer in God and loved him with all her heart. She never complained or questioned God. She encouraged others while she herself battled cancer. There is a video of Wendi’s life Here

During her last few months Rhema and Teton took care of Wendi. Rhema spent almost every hour with her mother, especially the last 2 weeks till Wendi took her last breath. When I asked Wendi what her greatest accomplishment was, she said, “Rhema”. When I asked Wendi what her last words were, she said, “I have nothing to say, my life speaks for itself”. Wendi was a great women of God who sits today next to her Lord. Knowing Wendi, she probably has not rested but continues to ask God to have grace, mercy, and blessings for her family and friends.

Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann ripped Michelle Obama on Tuesday, speculating that the first lady might one day run for office and accusing her of trying to implement a “nanny state” based on her newest push to get mothers to breastfeed their children in order to help combat childhood obesity.

Appearing on “The Laura Ingraham Show” on Tuesday, Bachmann, a Republican, said the first lady’s agenda is “very consistent with where the hard left is coming from.”

“For them, government is the answer to every problem,” Bachmann said. “And so government got us in this problem, and so they think government is going to get us out of the problem. Clearly they’re wrong.”

White House Bows to China Again

VOA radio broadcasts to China signing off, while Beijing boosts propaganda

By Bill Gertz The Washington Times

The Obama administration will cancel shortwave radio broadcasts by Voice of America into China this year, as Beijing is expanding its propaganda operations in the United States and around the world.

Critics of the broadcasting cuts, announced Monday, said major reductions in staff and shortwave broadcasts will sharply curtail an important outlet for unfiltered news and information for large numbers of people in China, especially areas such as Tibet and western Xinjiang province, where pro-democracy forces are opposing Chinese rule.

The Internal Revenue Service says it will need an battalion of 1,054 new auditors and staffers and new facilities at a cost to taxpayers of more than $359 million in fiscal 2012 just to watch over the initial implementation of President Obama’s healthcare reforms. Among the new corps will be 81 workers assigned to make sure tanning salons pay a new 10 percent excise tax. Their cost: $11.5 million.

“The ACA [Affordable Care Act] will require additional resources to build new IT systems; modify existing tax processing systems; provide taxpayer outreach and assistance services; make enhancements to notices, collections, and case management systems to address and resolve taxpayer issues timely and accurately; and conduct focused examinations to encourage compliance,” said the newly released IRS budget

Washington takes from them is well spent. And second, Americans deserve an efficient, effective government that works for them. Our duty on the Oversight and Government Reform Committee is to protect these rights.

Our solemn responsibility is to hold government accountable to taxpayers, because taxpayers have a right to know what they get from their government. We will work tirelessly, in partnership with citizen-watchdogs, to deliver the facts to the American people and bring genuine reform to the federal bureaucracy.
