The WikiLeaks de facto declassification of privileged material makes it case closed: Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction — and intended to restart his program once the heat was off.

President George W. Bush, in the 2003 State of the Union address, uttered the infamous “16 words”: “The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa.”

Former Ambassador Joe Wilson sprang into action and, in an op-ed piece, in effect wrote, “No, the Cheney administration sent me to investigate the allegation — and I found it without merit.”

Put aside that Wilson’s CIA-employed wife, not the evil Vice President Dick Cheney — as Wilson implied — sent him on the African errand. Put aside that the British still stand by the intelligence on which Bush made the claim. And put aside that the anti-Bush Washington Post, in an editorial, concluded that Wilson had lied about not finding evidence to support the Iraq-in-Africa-for-uranium claim, since he told the CIA the opposite when he reported back from Africa.

Bush claimed that Iraq sought uranium, specifically “yellowcake.” What is yellowcake, and why would its presence or attempted acquisition corroborate the nearly unanimous assumption that Saddam possessed WMD?

The Associated Press called yellowcake “the seed material for higher-grade nuclear enrichment” and said that it “also can be enriched for use in reactors and, at higher levels, nuclear weapons using sophisticated equipment.”

“Bush and Iraq: Follow the Yellow Cake Road” headlined a euphoric Time magazine July 2003 piece — written when the Bush administration began backtracking from the Iraq-sought-uranium-from-Africa claim. Time said no yellowcake equals no WMD equals bogus basis for war.

The article led with this ripper: “Is a fib really a fib if the teller is unaware that he is uttering an untruth? That question appears to be the basis of the White House defense, having now admitted a falsehood in President Bush’s claim, in his State of the Union address, that Iraq had tried to buy uranium in Africa.”

Time hoisted (the now discredited) Joe Wilson on its shoulders as The Man Who Told the Truth to Power: “Just last weekend, the man sent by the CIA to check out the Niger story broke cover and revealed that he had thoroughly debunked the allegation many months before President Bush repeated it.” Never mind that the bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee concluded that Wilson’s report “lent more credibility to the original Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) reports on the uranium deal” sought by Iraq in Niger.

Let’s recap.

In a desperate attempt to keep the DREAM Act bill alive, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) today moved to table the cloture vote on the Senate version of the DREAM Act (S.3992). Reid’s goal in doing this was to buy amnesty advocates time so they could bring up the House version of the DREAM Act (H.R.5281), which passed the House last night by a vote of 216-198. On the floor this morning, Senator Reid congratulated the House for passing the DREAM act the night before. He then said there was no point for the Senate to vote on the Senate bill when they could instead vote on the House bill and send it directly to the President’s desk. At 11am, when the cloture vote was scheduled on S.3992, Senator Reid moved to table the cloture vote. Reid’s motion to table – which only requires 50 to pass – passed 59 to 40.

Senator Reid’s move was also a tacit acknowledgment that he did not have the votes to pass the Senate version of the DREAM Act. Most news outlets on Capitol Hill were predicting the bill would fail. Now open borders advocates are scrambling for the possibility of the Senate bringing up the House version and are desperately trying to garner more support. Under Senate rules, Reid will be able to bring up the House bill at any time, but Senate sources tell us that a vote will probably not take place until next week. The Senate is tentatively scheduled to adjourn December 17th.

Documentary reveals government-corporate conspiracy of epic proportions. When filmmaker Bill Still reads the daily economic news, he has to laugh incredulously. Take the news that JPMorgan Chase would be doing its patriotic duty to provide jobs and credit for struggling Americans – hiring 1,200 new mortgage loan officers.

“Morgan is just trying to reinflate the real-estate bubble to try to get out of the giant crater of bad debt it is already in,” says the director of the award-winning documentary “The Secret of Oz” that is shaking up the established economic paradigms. “Of course JPMorgan is willing to hand out mortgage loans liberally. It has nothing to lose. The government – is backing it.”

According to the latest numbers from the Treasury Department , JPMorgan and Goldman Sachs are holding the bag on 60 percent of the world’s derivatives – an astonishing $120 trillion between them, Still reports.

But instead of being held responsible for the collapse of the world economy, they were rewarded during the debacle by being allowed to absorb their primary competitors.

Oz Economics

How important is this issue worldwide? Having private banks create money is the root cause of all world poverty, hunger, disease and misery. And until we fix it, we will never be able to make a dent in these other issues.

We can fix this. We can fix it in a matter of months — a year at most. We can make our government the most financially sound in the world — nearly overnight. The government can loan out all the money any state needs to build roads or schools or hospitals – interest free. Approximately half of a state’s infrastructure cost is from interest on borrowed money! When the money is repaid by the states it will all come back to the federal government, preventing inflation. All we have to do is to take back the power to control the quantity of money and put that power into the hands of the federal officials closest to the voting public — namely the Congress of the United States.

Some say, “Well, those crooks in Congress will create too much money once they get the money power.” But Congress now “creates” all the money it wants! It just creates it as DEBT, which never gets paid back, and which we the people have to continually pay interest on. Instead of creating bonds — or debt — the government could and should be creating DOLLARS, interest-free.

Secret of Oz

The world economy is doomed to spiral downwards until we do 2 things:

1. Outlaw government borrowing;
2. Outlaw fractional reserve lending. Banks should only be allowed to lend out money they actually have and nations do not have to run up a “National Debt”. Remember: It’s not what backs the money, it’s who controls its quantity.

The government is over spent. This single fact is beyond dispute. Even Democrats say so. We have but to recall that Democrat after Democrat attempted to run for office this last election by claiming fealty to small government, cost cutting, and lower spending. So with all this small government/low spending fever sweeping the political classes, what does Barack Obama do? He forces policies on federal building projects that inflates costs by the millions. And why would he do this? As a payoff to unions that gave him millions in campaign contributions, of course.

The latest bloated price tag for a federal project is that of the Lafayette Federal Building in Washington D.C., a project that has seen costs rise at least $3.3 million thanks to Obama’s payoffs to unions. That’s right in a day when we are drowning in government overspending, Obama is making sure costs rise, not insuring that they fall.

Barack Obama’s political tin ear is nowhere better revealed than in his constant payoffs to Big Labor. One of Obama’s very first actions, for instance, was to write an Executive Order that forced all government building projects to follow union marching orders in pay scale, work rules, and pension payouts by imposing Project Labor Agreements (PLAs) on all of them.

In February of 2009 Obama issued EO 13502, headlined, “Use of project labor agreements for federal construction projects.” This order forced all construction projects to adhere to union rules even if the companies and workers involved were not members of unions.

Imagine being a non-union construction worker and being told that you are going to be forced to pay union dues even when you are not a member of the union. Imagine realizing as a worker that your hard earned wages are going to go to pay pensions for union members when you, yourself will never benefit from the very pensions you helped fund. Further imagine that the company you work for is going to take a cut in the profits it will make because of these same rules. Then you realize that your taxes are paying unions while you suffer as the costs for the projects you are working on are wildly inflated because of these PLA rules. And finally you come face-to-face with the singular fact that as a non-union worker, you are in the majority of all workers because union workers are less than 14 percent of your industry.

This is an example of the tyranny of the minority if there ever was one. As the Washington Examiner’s Mark Hemingway reports, only 14 percent of the construction labor force is forcing 86 percent to follow the rules of the minority. As in most of Obama’s policies, his PLA order helps out but a tiny minority and a minority that gave him millions in campaign donations to boot.

As Ben Brubeck of says of this outrage:

The costly and discriminatory terms and provisions in typical PLAs discourage competition from non-union contractors and increase the cost of construction. Numerous studies have found that government-mandated PLAs typically increase the cost of construction between 12 percent and 18 percent.

In the case of the Lafayette Building, the $3.3 million change order is the added cost the contractor charged the federal government for agreeing to the provisions in a PLA. (Remember that the general contractor for this project was awarded the contract for $52.3 million without a PLA). The added $3.3 million isn’t the result of increased material costs, revised blueprints or a more aggressive completion deadline. The contract was awarded to the same company with the same proposal, and the only variable is the PLA. There is no denying the PLA is the culprit of the increased costs on the Lafayette Building.

So, while every last American voter is painfully aware about how government is wildly overspending, Obama is making sure that costs rise. Barack Obama is consistently working against the good of the government and this is yet one more example.

The Senate on Thursday punted on a DREAM Act vote after Republicans prevented Democrats from advancing the version that passed the House Wednesday night.

A senior Senate Democratic leadership aide told Fox News that the Senate is expected to vote on the House-passed legislation next week.

“We still hope to consider it before we leave,” a spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid told Fox News.

Reid was originally looking to hold a procedural vote Thursday on a version of the bill his colleague introduced that would carve out a path to legalization for hundreds of thousands of foreign-born youngsters brought to this country illegally. But after the House approved its own version of that bill Wednesday night, Reid tried to shelve the vote and take up the House version instead.

But Republicans refused to let him do that. So Reid effectively let the Senate kill the older version, potentially clearing the way for a DREAM Act vote on the House bill next week.

Democrats always faced an uphill climb to muster the 60 votes needed to advance the legislation over opposition by most Republicans and a handful of their own members.

The House passed the legislation Wednesday night after Democratic leaders painstakingly lined up the votes to push it through.

Supporters view the bill as a step toward eventually giving the nation’s 10 million to 12 million undocumented immigrants a chance to gain legal status.

Critics denounce the bill as a backdoor amnesty grant that would encourage more foreigners to sneak into the United States in hopes of eventually being legalized as well.

With the GOP taking control of the House and representing a stronger minority in the Senate next year, failure to enact the legislation by year’s end would dim the prospects for action by Congress to grant a path toward legalization for the nation’s millions of undocumented immigrants.

Obama’s drive to enact the legislation and congressional Democrats’ determination to vote on it before year’s end reflect the party’s efforts to satisfy Hispanic groups whose backing has been critical in elections and will be again in 2012.

The legislation would give hundreds of thousands of young illegal immigrants brought to the United States before the age of 16, and who have been here for five years and graduated from high school or gained an equivalency degree, a chance to gain legal status if they joined the military or attended college.

Hispanic activists have described the DREAM Act as the least Congress can do on the issue. It targets the most sympathetic of the millions of undocumented people — those brought to the United States as children, who in many cases consider themselves American, speak English and have no ties to or family living in their native countries.

Students who would be eligible for legalization under the bill fanned out across Capitol Hill to personally lobby lawmakers to back the measure. Seated in the House gallery to watch the debate Wednesday night, a group of them broke out in cheers upon passage of measure, and Democrats turned to applaud them in turn.
