Per FNC earlier:

This is a ‘tentative’ deal. So why then was it being hyped for a few hours as, “Breaking news coming on…? Bah! JUST listen to Obamba’s angry intonations and body language…

President Obama and White House officials underscored the need to compromise Monday in unveiling a congressional deal to avoid the expiration of the Bush-era tax cuts at the end of the year, but some of the toughest critics of Obama’s version of compromise come from within his own party.

Democrats have generally argued that the tax cuts should be extended for the middle class — but not for the wealthiest 2 percent. Republicans have argued that the cuts should be extended for all taxpayers.

The “framework” of the deal that Obama outlined Monday evening calls for a two-year extension of the cuts in all income tax brackets. It also would extend long-term unemployment benefits through next year. The estate tax rate would be renewed, but at a lower rate than even during the Bush administration. And the Obama administration is proposing a one-year payroll tax
reduction that sources say would cut the amount contributed to Social Security from 6.2 percent to 4.2 percent.

“I have no doubt that everyone will find something in this compromise that they don’t like,” Obama said, but “we cannot play politics at a time when the American people are looking for us to solve problems.” He said letting taxes increase for all Americans would create a chilling effect on the economy.

GOP Gets Tax Help from Unlikely Source by Jim Angle

Republican lawmakers got a little help on their argument in favor of extending all of the Bush tax cuts regardless of income.

And it came from an unlikely source who tries to stay out of politics — Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke — who voiced concerns this weekend about the recovery. He told “60 Minutes” that the economy is much too fragile for any sudden changes.

“We are recovering now. And we don’t want to take actions this year that will affect this year’s spending and this year’s taxes in a way that will hurt the recovery. That’s important.”

UPDATE: Another call came to me. This from a Gold Star Mom from MAF:

While our Marines, who are more aggressive than the British troops they replaced, continue to inflict heavier causalities on the Taliban, every fellow Marine lost is a big blow to the whole unit.

Many observers and analysts are calling Sangin Province the “Afghan Fallujah” after the city in Iraq that had to be re-taken after the heavy insurgency there spun out of control.

Ironically, it was the 3/5 Marines that fought to re-take Fallujah in 2005. They took massive casualties, but they defeated a hornet’s nest of entrenched terrorists, an accomplishment that made them famous. They are legendary within the Marine Corps, and as such, they’ve been asked to accomplish seemingly impossible tasks.

Darkhorse Battalion is the most highly decorated unit in the Marine Corps, with 6 Navy Crosses among them, more than any other unit.

They fought and won the toughest battle of the Iraq War, and now they’ve been asked to do the same in Afghanistan.

How you can help: Choose to send a package to a squad or the whole Battalion!

scream act

It’s “official”…

The vote on the DREAM Act in the House of Representatives originally scheduled for last Friday is now scheduled for Wednesday as Sen. Harry Reid pledged to get a cloture vote on Monday in order to end the GOP filibuster and to force a Senate vote on the Dream Act by Wednesday as well.

House Republicans are requiring that Congress renew all of the Bush tax cuts This is a stickler that is problematic since two tax cut votes were taken and failed to pass.

But, the proponents of the Dream Act have until WEDNESDAY to find the votes they get to force the Dream Act through Congress. Neither Sen. Harry Reid nor “lame duck” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi are going to give up. Harry Reid has polished the verbiage of the Dream Act to find those elusive 60 votes to send Amnesty to Barack Obama for his signature.

Reid promised amnesty supporters that there would be a floor vote on the Dream Act during the lame duck session, and he is determined to make it happen.

That is precisely why we—YOU and me—must be “on guard.” More than ever, we need to continue faxing every single Member of our United States Congress. We need every member of the House and Senate to understand the American people are watching… and the American people have voted NO to the Dream Act.

Sources tell us that the House is scheduled to vote on the Amnesty bill on WEDNESDAY. And Reid believes he will have the votes he needs to make it official. Your action RIGHT NOW IS CRITICAL! Right now, the Amnesty advocacy appears to be making more noise before Congress than Americans who are opposed to amnesty. It has been reported by our friends inside the beltway that the illegal aliens themselves and their supporters are getting their message to Congress in larger numbers than the majority of America who opposes the social progressive Dream Act.

No one thought that We, the People, could win when we fought against the forces pushing AMNESTY FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS two years ago.

But we DID win!

Now—even though they LOST by HUGE margins in the recent mid-term elections—the same social progressives are pushing for amnesty AGAIN—which means we have to FIGHT EVEN HARDER THIS TIME because several of them were defeated for office and feel they have nothing to lose by selling out America. And, because they are running out of time, their efforts will now be a lot more covert. Our work to stop them must be more intense and rigorous, and much, much more time consuming. We are pulling out all the stops to make sure the Dream Act does not become a nightmare for the American people.

We all know that the far Left has been pushing for years to get full amnesty for all 20 million illegal aliens in the U.S. But now they know their time is short—this is their LAST CHANCE to pass it before they lose their majority, and the Tea Party Republicans take over Congress.

So once again, these people will stop at NOTHING to get what they want—even the fact that THEY LOST THE ELECTION. And this time, they want AMNESTY for illegals, whether the American people want it or not!

So now they’re DOUBLING their efforts—not only do they still want to get what they, tongue-in-cheek,” call comprehensive immigration reform” (that is, AMNESTY) passed in Congress; they’re trying several NEW ways to “sneak through” amnesty—starting by having Harry Reid bringing up the so-called “DREAM Act” as a stand-alone bill. And Nancy Pelosi is saying she’ll do the SAME THING in the House—backed by Barack Obama. In short:

~Patriots, you know the drill! Time has arrived.

We must do everything within our power to literally STOP the Dream Act. We cannot permit MILLIONS of illegals from doing something that is ILLEGAL! What can we tell our children on how to obey the laws, when the U.S. government turns their heads and allows illegal aliens to come into this country!

Behind Closed Doors...

Behind Closed Doors...

With the administration in negotiations regarding the extension of tax relief measures from 01/03, a deal could be struck at some point this week and the measure brought to the floor in the House. That being said, there will also be further discussions of what the Congress will do with the Continuing Resolution and funding of the government set to end on December 18th. An all encompassing omnibus bill that would package all of the appropriations bills together could be possible but at this time unknown. There could also be a possible vote on the DREAM Act depending on the measures result in a Senate cloture vote this week.

Major Floor Action:

* DRAFT: Fiscal 2011 Appropriations
* DRAFT: Extension of the 2001/2003 tax relief rates
* HR 5987 : Seniors Protection Act of 2010
* HR 5012: Weekends Without Hunger Act

Major Committee Action:

* The House Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing on causes and effects of the foreclosure crisis.
* The House Judiciary Subcommittee on Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties will hold a hearing on civil liberties and national security.

Senate Cloakroom: December 5-11, 2010

Directly following the two failed votes on the House tax bill held last Saturday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid announced that he was planning to file cloture on several legislative items today, including the DREAM Act, a bill to give an additional $250 one time payments to social security recipients, a bill offering compensation to those exposed to debris during the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and a bill to grant bargaining rights to public safety employees . These cloture votes are expected to take place on Wednesday. The Senate will reconvene at 2pm today, but no votes are scheduled.

The Senate will move to the impeachment trial of G. Thomas Porteous Jr., a U.S. district judge for the Eastern District of Louisiana on Tuesday.

A group of bipartisan Members are still working towards a compromise on how to react to the expiring 2001/2003 tax law . If an agreement is reached, a vote on some sort of compromise is possible later this week.

Major Floor Action:

* H.R. 847: 9/11 Health and Compensation Act of 2010
* S. 3991: Public Safety Employer-Employee Cooperation Act of 2010
* S. 3992: DREAM Act

~Click image…

Major Committee Action:

* On Wednesday, December 8, the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs will hold a hearing entitled “Examining the Efficiency, Stability, and Integrity of the U.S. Capital Markets”.
* The Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairswill hold a hearing on border security on Wednesday.

I think Hugh Hewitt has the right idea:

The Congress That Needs To Go Home

This failed Congress needs to close up shop and go home. They have become the unwelcome house guest, staying and staying and indifferent to every hint the host can give to clear out. They are the neighbor across the hall who thinks nothing of knocking with an inane request in the middle of the night. They are the guy in the next room at the hotel who left his television on but fell asleep so you can listen to Sports Center all night through while he sleeps.

This Congress needs to go away. That which it did, it shouldn’t have done. That which is didn’t do, it can no longer do well.

Clear out. Vamoose. Scram.

Go play in the street.

It is hard to remember any Congress for any reason, good or bad. It is an institution of immense power, but the consequences of that power have very short shelf spans when it comes to American memory. Try naming five House members from prior to 2000. Got that, did you? OK, try from prior to 1990. If you want to go farther, link a legislative accomplishment to each of the five.

Hard work that, and it isn’t going to change in the next three weeks. Once and a while a Congress will rouse itself to pass a crucial bit of lawmaking like the Civil Rights Act of 1964 or the Reagan tax cuts, or to authorize FDR or George W. Bush to take the country into war. But that is not this Congress. This is simply the Congress that nearly bankrupted the United States and which set its health care system on the path to ruin. If its successor Congress does not remedy the ills done by this gang, this gang will go down in our books as the worst Congress since the Reconstruction Radicals ran the game.

We know this. Most of the Members of Congress know this, except wild-eyed Nancy Pelosi, still looking for the strawberries. But their swarming 10% –that mass of activists, MSNBC watchers and lefty blog writers that churns and churns and churns and on whom the American people threw a pail of water on November 2—isn’t melting away quietly. They are melting, but not completely, and very much not quietly.

I have 200 acres in Arkansas and have raised hogs.

Pigford is the biggest rip-off this country has ever known, and there are lots of people in positions of power that know it. Politicians are using it to buy votes. Trial lawyers are using it to get rich.

Email from Char and Barb:

In 1997, 400 African-American farmers sued the United States Department of Agriculture, alleging that they had been unfairly denied USDA loans due to racial discrimination during the period 1983 to 1997.

The case was entitled Pigford v. Glickman and in 1999, the black farmers won their case.

The government agreed to pay each of them as much as $50,000 to settle their claims.

But then on February 23, 2010, something shocking happened in relation to that original judgment:

In total silence, the USDA agreed to release more funds to Pigford.

The amount was a staggering…… $1.25 billion. This was because the original number of plaintiffs 400 black farmers had now… swollen in a class action suit to include a total of 86,000 black farmers throughout America .

There was only one teensy problem:

The United States of America doesn’t have 86,000 black farmers !!!

It appears that Ms. Sherrod had just unwittingly exposed herself as the perpetrator of one of the biggest fraud claims in the United States – – a fraud enabled solely because she screamed racism at the government and cowed them into submission. And it gets even more interesting.

Ms. Sherrod has also exposed the person who aided and abetted her in this race fraud. As it turns out, the original judgment of Pigford v. Glickman in 1999 only applied to a total of about 16,000 black farmers.

Pigford v. Glickman

An article from Big Government has expounded on this:

I personally know of people who have no connection to farming at all who got Pigford checks. People with potted plants in their apartments claimed to be farmers and got paid. I saw an instance where eight Pigford checks went to one house. There are drug addicts and pushers who have received payments who have never farmed a day in their life.

There was discrimination at the US Department of Agriculture. It needed to be dealt with. I was suing the USDA before Timothy Pigford even filed suit. I wrote to attorney Al Pires, who eventually filed a class action lawsuit against the USDA, but he saw that there wasn’t going to be a huge amount of money for him. So he passed. What he did find was a way to work a scam from inside the Star City, Arkansas USDA office by paying a USDA employee to process claimants. This employee would take from $5,000 to $25,000 for each successful Pigford claim. Pires was in this totally for the money. He’s made far more money than any black farmer.

John Boyd heads up the National Black Farmers Association and his business isn’t straight. He worked with James Myart and Tom Burrell. Boyd has his agenda and it’s making money. He has 70,000 members now. He wants people that file Pigford claims to join his group and pay $100 in dues every year. And when he holds meetings about Pigford and gives updates he sometimes asks for another $100 per person for the updates. Some of these meetings include hundreds of people so he does okay, if you know what I mean.

I saw the fraud coming. Whenever you put money out there, people are going to take advantage. I told John Boyd about this and he told me I wasn’t being a team player. John Boyd, Tom Burrell, and James Myart know about the massive fraud. I don’t know what team they are on, but I’m not going to be on any team that ignores widespread fraud.

Congress needs to investigate Pigford immediately. I believe that probably 80 to 90% of Pigford claims are fraudulent. I know that its at least 300 cases in Arkansas alone. By investigating this fraud we are opening up a can of worms. But it needs to be done. Justice demands it.
