He described El-Gamal as “very religious,” saying he bought the building near Ground Zero because, “It was a very good deal…He just bought it because the building was available and he has the funds. I am 100% sure that he didn’t know that it going to raise some issues, some sensibilities were going to be hurt because of this whole thing. It was not his intention at the beginning.”

He said El-Gamal “is a real estate agent. He knows where the pockets are available. He did his research. He found that building. It’s a nice building. He has the money and he bought it. That’s it, and it’s a fundamental right.”

El-Gamal did not respond to our request for an interview, but he has previously told Fox News that he has no intention of abandoning the project and denied reports that he wants to move it to another location, as suggested by some, including New York Governor David Paterson.

WASHINGTON (AFP) – Plans by the conservative Tea Party movement for a huge weekend rally at the site and on the anniversary of Martin Luther King’s historic “I Have a Dream” speech have drawn fire from the civil rights movement.

Called “Restoring Honor,” the rally organized by right-wing talk show host Glenn Beck is set to take place Saturday in front of the Lincoln Memorial, the same location where King delivered his most stirring and best remembered address exactly 47 years earlier.

Beck has billed the event as a faith-based show of thanks and support for America’s military families, honoring US “heroes, our heritage and our future.”

Speakers at the gathering were to include Sarah Palin, the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee and conservative America’s hottest ticket, ensuring a massive draw — perhaps even above the 100,000 estimated by organizers.

“There is profound change happening in America and there is a window of opportunity that comes in the lifespan of every republic, every civilization, a window of opportunity to reach for that brass ring or to miss it,” Beck said of the gathering on his website.

* blah blah blah

“We’re not the people that we’ve allowed ourselves to become,” said the rightwing pundit, who has rallied rising conservative opposition to President Barack Obama and his administration.

But civil rights groups have decried the event as an effort to “hijack” the civil rights legacy, and left-leaning commentators have blasted Beck’s choice of time and date to hold its rally.

The liberal Huffington Post website wrote that rather than restoring the honor, as the name of the Tea Party event suggests, Beck and his fellow activists were trying to “dishonor” King, a civil rights icon and hero to millions of Americans, and who has a national holiday to honor his memory.

African-American and civil rights activists who see themselves as the heirs to King’s legacy said the timing and location of the gathering are not just inappropriate, but provocative.

“The Tea Party and allied conservatives are trying to break that national stance on justice and, in turn, break the crux of what the civil rights movement symbolized and what Dr King fought and literally died for,” said activist Al Sharpton said in a statement.

* blah blah blah

King gave his “I Have a Dream” speech on August 28, 1963, drawing a quarter million people at the foot of the Lincoln Memorial, an event designed to pierce America’s national conscience over inequities in its laws that made blacks second-class citizens in the United States.

Leaders including Sharpton and his National Action Network, and other groups like the National Urban League and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), are planning their own march from a Washington high school to the site of a planned King memorial, a short distance from the Lincoln Memorial.

It is not the first time that the Tea Party, which emerged shortly after Obama was elected, has wrangled with America’s civil rights establishment.

The mostly white and staunchly conservative Tea Party movement has been accused of being hostile to that legacy. In mid-July the NAACP condemned Tea Party extremists, and calling on movement leaders to repudiate followers that use racist language in their signs and speeches.

* WHO is this so-called journalist?! by Lucile Malandain This isn’t a left leaning liar is she? She is obviously French from her FB. Many of her friends are from Agence France-Presse, which tells me a lot. She even has one buddy from WaPo, which tells me a lot.

~ Liberal bias hard at work in this article. I debated posting it but JUST had to share her ignorance…

Oh yah-Lucile Malandain Reporter at Agence France-Presse, Washington, DC

* As if there wasn’t already enough proof of her instigating as opposed to investigating, I find THIS-She posts for Lucianne, enough said!

Well, I’ve had & seen enough, as I’m sure you have, so as Mdm. Lucile says “Peace Out”. Bah!

The Tea Party opposes virtually all policies — from health care reform to financial bailouts — promoted by Obama, the country’s first black president.

Controversy erupted last month over a blog post by a leading Tea Party activist who described “coloreds” as lazy, among other explosive remarks.

The movement also has been ridiculed come in for ridicule over its talking points for those from out of town and who may be unfamiliar with how to conduct themselves in the multi-racial, culturally diverse US capital.

Beck has said he believes Saturday’s event will be “the turning point in the American experiment.”

And the pundit whose popular show airs on the Fox broadcast network insists that the choice of the King anniversary was purely by chance.

But Beck said he came to see the date and location as fortuitous.

“I believe in divine providence. I believe this is a reason, because whites don’t own the founding fathers,” he said.

“Whites don’t own Abraham Lincoln. Blacks don’t own Martin Luther King.”

GroundZeroMosque-11

Dueling investigations are underway on the Ground Zero Mosque. Mustering on the Offense, in opposition to the Ground Zero Mosque: hundreds of citizen researchers, reporters, lawyers, authors, elected officials, and scholars who are researching Imam Rauf and his Muslim Brotherhood colleagues and their funding. An Army of Davids.

And playing Defense as best they can, supporting the Imam and his rapidly collapsing Cordoba House of Cards: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Daily Kos, Glenn Greenwald at Salon, ThinkProgress, Vet Voice, and now Politico, all “investigating” the groups and individuals who oppose the Ground Zero Mosque.

Best-selling author Robert Spencer-Sharif El-Gamal vs. Daisy Khan and Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf on the location of the Ground Zero mega-mosque captured the Politico style perfectly at Jihadwatch on August 19:

Cost of New York bus ads: $10,000

Cost of press release: $1,500

Cost of watching the lapdog media track the sources of these sums while ignoring the questionable funding of a $100 million dollar mosque: Priceless.

I just got a call from Kenneth P. Vogel of Politico, asking me a series of questions about donations to our efforts against the Ground Zero mega-mosque, and growing increasingly hostile and belligerent when I declined to answer. Vogel even said to me at one point, “Look, you can make this hard, or you can make this easy” — apparently he has been watching too many Law and order reruns.

We received similar overtures from Mr. Vogel on August 24, although as a matter of policy we respond to these kinds of queries only by email. In his initial email to us, he implied a moral equivalency between “both sides” – which would be in our view, on the one hand, the $100 million funding for the Ground Zero Mosque (possibly from Saudi Arabia and even Iran), and on the other hand, any donations U.S. groups or individuals have given to the 9-11 families and firemen opposing the Ground Zero Mosque. He wrote:

“I am writing a story about the funding of the groups in the mosque debate (both sides, don’t worry)…”

Pelosi’s Project to Investigate America also has two sides of the same coin:

— On one side, this administration’s State Department is financing Imam Rauf to travel overseas, enabling him to seek the required $100 million funding for the Mosque;

— While on the other side, this administration’s House Speaker is leading the media charge to stop any investigations into the sources of that required $100 million funding.

Heads, Shariah wins; tails, the Constitution loses.

Here’s the history of the dueling investigations:

PELOSI INVESTIGATES AMERICA

On August 17, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called for an investigation of who is funding the opposition to the mosque.

The next day, August 18, Pelosi provided a re-statement modeled, according to Politico where her re-statement first appeared, on that of the Interfaith Alliance, an organization deeply committed to the Ground Mosque project:

I support the statement made by the Interfaith Alliance, that “We agree with the ADL that there is a need for transparency about who is funding the effort to build this Islamic center,” according to Pelosi’s statement, quoting the Alliance’s position. “At the same time, we should also ask who is funding the attacks against the construction of the center.”

The Interfaith Alliance, transparently not much of an advocate for foreign-funding transparency, has long been a no-compromise major supporter for the Ground Zero Mosque. Imam Rauf and Interfaith Alliance President C. Welton Gaddy have worked together; both sit on the Religious Advisory Committee for the Council on Foreign Relations, which just held a conference call support session for Daisy Khan on August 25; and both are part of the West Islamic World Dialogue group of the World Economic Forum. Far from genuinely seeking transparency to expose the Mosque funders, Interfaith Alliance President Gaddy brooked no opposition, indeed calling opposition to the Mosque based on its “sponsors” (that is, its financial backers) a “violation.” He made that statement on August 17, the same day that Pelosi issued her first call for investigations. Here’s what he said:

To oppose this project because Islam is involved and Muslims are sponsors of it is a violation of the religious freedom guaranteed and protected by the First Amendment of the Constitution – period.

Both Gaddy and Pelosi (and Politico) are following the pattern set by Mayor Bloomberg on July 12, when the Mayor stated that it would be un-American to investigate the Ground Zero Mosque. A month later, under heightened scrutiny from the Mosque opponents Pelosi wishes to investigate, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf left for his State Department-funded trip to Malaysia and the Middle East. The trip was reported in Arab news to be for fundraising for the Mosque. On August 18, the Mosque developer Sharif El-Gamal refused to rule out accepting money from Saudi Arabia and Iran. On August 23, investigative reporters revealed that Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal had already given over $300,000 to Imam Rauf’s project. On August 24, Sharif El-Gamal and Rauf’s wife and co-director Daisy Khan attended an elite Iftar dinner for Ramadan at Mayor Bloomberg’s mansion.

In late August, as reported Now, Daisy Khan’s $12,000 Taxpayer-Funded Trip to the UAE by Claudia Rossett State Dept. about to Send GZM Imam’s Wife to Join Him on Goodwill Mideast Tour by Frank Gaffney. Daisy Khan will fly to the UAE to help her husband, Imam Rauf in the Middle East. For more on the investigative money trail, see Alyssa Lappen or this compilation by stopthe911mosque

NORFOLK, VA—Jama Idle Ibrahim, a/k/a Jaamac Ciidle, of Somalia, pled guilty today to acts of piracy against the USS Ashland, which he believed was a merchant vessel that he intended to seize and hold for ransom.

In addition, Ibrahim was charged today in the District of Columbia through a criminal information with conspiracy to commit piracy under the law of nations and conspiracy to use a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence. The charges stem from an alleged act of piracy in the Gulf of Aden against a merchant vessel, the M/V CEC Future. This matter is being handled by the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia.

Neil H. MacBride, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia; Shawn Henry, Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI’s Washington Field Office; Janice K. Fedarcyk, Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI’s New York Field Office; Alex J. Turner, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Norfolk Field Office; and Mark Russ, Special Agent in Charge of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service in Norfolk, made the announcement after the plea was accepted by United States District Judge Raymond A. Jackson.

“Today marks the first conviction in Norfolk for acts of piracy in more than 150 years,” said U.S. Attorney MacBride. “Modern-day pirates must be held accountable and will face severe consequences. Ibrahim admitted his role in an armed attack on a U.S. Navy ship in the Gulf of Aden, which he attempted to take by force after mistaking it for a merchant vessel.”

Today, Ibrahim pled guilty to charges filed in the Eastern District of Virginia for attacking to plunder a vessel, engaging in an act of violence against persons on a vessel and using of a firearm during a crime of violence in regards to an attack against the USS Ashland on April 10, 2010. The charges range from a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison to a maximum of life in prison, and the plea agreement indicates that both parties agree that a sentence of 30 years in prison is appropriate. Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 29, 2010.
According to the statement of facts filed with the plea agreement, in and around April 10, 2010, Ibrahim and five other Somalis sailed on the high seas in the Gulf of Aden searching for a merchant ship to attack and seize, intending to plunder the vessel and hold the crew and contents for ransom. The six men sighted a ship they believed to be a merchant vessel—but which was in fact the USS Ashland, a United States Navy vessel—chased it, and, once they were alongside the vessel, began firing at the USS Ashland and the people on board. In the statement of facts, Ibrahim admitted that all six men were willing participants in the planned piracy and that the purpose of firing at the vessel was to cause the vessel to surrender to them, at which point they would board the vessel, seize the ship, its crew and its contents.

The investigations of the cases in the Eastern District of Virginia and the District of Columbia are being conducted by the FBI, including members of the Joint Terrorism Task Force, and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service.

The prosecution in the Eastern District of Virginia is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Benjamin L. Hatch, Joseph DePadilla and Raymond E. Patricco Jr., from the U.S. Attorney’s Office and Trial Attorney Jerome Teresinski from the Department of Justice’s National Security Division.

According to doomsayers, the chickens have come home to roost and soon there will be no chickens for everyone’s pot.

The promised Summer of Recovery has come to this on the day that begins the last weekend of summer: “Government Set to Confirm What Many Feel: Economy at a Standstill,” FoxNews, Aug. 27, 2010.

“The Commerce Department this morning is expected to report revised GDP figures that confirm what many Americans are already feeling: the nation’s economic growth is at a near standstill—and slow economic growth doesn’t bode well for employment, raising fears that the nation’s jobless rate, now at 9.5 percent, could climb even higher.”

This news comes at a time when President Barack Obama and wife Michelle are gorging themselves on lobster and shrimp on summer holidays in Massachusetts.

Yet there’s a silver lining to the doom and gloom. Caught in the glare of the spotlight, Obama and Company are no longer moving targets. There’s no longer any doubt about it: They lied about the economy and so many other things.

There is no Summer of Recovery. The economy is at a near standstill.

No matter how voracious your appetite, there are only so many lobsters you can eat. Only Peter Pan can stay a boy forever. Obama’s priority of demoralizing America notwithstanding, average folks, who must go about their own business for survival, stopped watching his play.

More importantly, the Obamas have to come in from play, and barring a manufactured crisis, November 2 looms.

Now that the entire world hasn’t come to an abrupt end because the President of the United States “forcefully” endorsed the Mosque at Ground Zero, what’s next?

No matter what’s next from the bountiful Marxist bag of tricks, Americans will continue to put their families first.

Lobster and shrimp gorging during concurrent holidays isn’t everybody’s idea of escapism.

Staying off the radar of Big Government and keeping on truckin’, no matter how hard the times, are the favored escapism for average people.

Some people think “getting even” is “forcefully” endorsing a mosque on sacred ground, ruining the economy and coming on like the uncrowned King of the World.

Others will just get out and cast their vote for people they think will give their country a better chance for survival.

No signs won’t stop tens of thousands from having that ideal in mind when they gather in unity at the steps of the Lincoln Memorial tomorrow for the Restoring Honor 8/28 Rally.

“Bring your hearts, bring your open minds, bring your kids, that’s important,” Beck urged Americans on FoxNews last night.

“We’ve lost our way because we have lost God. The answer is God.”

The drums and fifes from 9/12 can still be heard over the Capitol. They are calling out not just to the attendees of the Restoring Honor 8/28 Rally, but to folks at home who couldn’t make it.

That’s because you don’t have to be on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial to hear the drums and fifes; and you don’t have to be there to find God.

For those who can’t make it to the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, He is at Home in Hearts sincerely looking.
