Chicago – The NBA may know something about the LeBron James sweepstakes that we don’t. For a couple of hours Thursday, the NBA store was offering a Chicago Bulls road jersey with James and the number six on it.
None of the other teams involved in the bidding for James were offering similar jerseys. Though the site allows anyone to customize a jersey, the default normally appears as Player 00, not a specific name and number, according to Yahoo! Sports .
James filed papers with the league in March to change his number from 23 to six. He apparently likes the number six since it was his number on the U.S. Olympic team and the one he wears in practice every day.
Michael Jordan wore the number 23 on the Bulls; his jersey has been retired.
James is a free agent being courted by many teams, including the Chicago Bulls. He has said he will make a decision on where he will play next year by July 5.
