THE KICKER…
The United States reversed policy on Wednesday and said it would back launching talks on a treaty to regulate arms sales as long as the talks operated by consensus, a stance critics said gave every nation a veto. The proposed legally binding treaty would tighten regulation of, and set international standards for, the import, export and transfer of conventional weapons.

The decision, announced in a statement released by the U.S. State Department, overturns the position of former President George W. Bush’s administration, which had opposed such a treaty on the grounds that national controls were better.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the United States would support the talks as long as the negotiating forum, the so-called Conference on the Arms Trade Treaty, “operates under the rules of consensus decision-making.”

“Consensus is needed to ensure the widest possible support for the Treaty and to avoid loopholes in the Treaty that can be exploited by those wishing to export arms irresponsibly,” Clinton said in a written statement.

While praising the Obama administration’s decision to overturn the Bush-era policy and to proceed with negotiations to regulate conventional arms sales, some groups criticized the U.S. insistence that decisions on the treaty be unanimous.

“The shift in position by the world’s biggest arms exporter is a major breakthrough in launching formal negotiations at the United Nations in order to prevent irresponsible arms transfers,” Amnesty International and Oxfam International said in a joint statement.

However, they said insisting that decisions on the treaty be made by consensus “could fatally weaken a final deal.”

“Governments must resist US demands to give any single state the power to veto the treaty as this could hold the process hostage during the course of negotiations. We call on all governments to reject such a veto clause,” said Oxfam International’s policy adviser Debbie Hillier.

The proposed legally binding treaty would tighten regulation of, and set international standards for, the import, export and transfer of conventional weapons.

In other words, massive and unrelenting immigration cannot add up, does not equate and cannot continue if this country hopes to serve its citizens, its children and its future.

As a math teacher, I can verify that when a student works the equation correctly, he or she discovers the right answer. When students work all the questions correctly, they enjoy a 100% perfect grade. That means they understand, extrapolate and engage in the learning process. They advance their minds. It’s called ‘education’ and it forms the foundation of a successful personal life and ultimately affirmative civilization.

From their performance in all their subjects, students may advance to higher math, English, history, science and other disciplines. They graduate from high school, move on to work, and/or they advance to college. By performing well at a university, they may enjoy a more successful life on many levels. Not guaranteed of course!

Therefore, let’s ask members of our U.S. Congress, most of them college graduates, to work some simple math and discover the correct answers.

NBC anchor Brian Williams reported two weeks ago that 20 million Americans suffer unemployment or underemployment. ABC’s Diane Sawyer reported on millions of Americans being foreclosed on their mortgages. Katie Couric at CBS told us that the ‘recovery’ sees only 95,000 jobs created monthly. Little known and not reported by any of the top news networks, a whopping 35 million Americans subsist on food stamps. Over 13.4 million American children live below the poverty line and go to bed hungry every night.

You may engage this sobering number into the equation. With the harsh aforementioned paragraph, nonetheless, every thirty days, our U.S. Congress imports 150,000 to 180,000 legal immigrants as well as allows illegal alien migrants to cross into our country without warrant. Total: 1.5 to 2.0 million new people added to this country, give or take a few thousand, annually.

JUST WORK THE EQUATION

Does the President want more of this?

Big Government>

Is it possible President Obama is inciting violence in Arizona? Could he, some in his party and in liberal media be using racial bating to do it? I think you could make that case. So why aren’t the mainstream media and level-headed Democrats in Congress criticizing the President, others in their party, and some in the media for stirring up possible aggression in Arizona?

Arizona’s recent law cracking down on illegal immigration has had an immediate backlash from those on the Left. The state is being flooded by angry protesters, many of whom are not only holding angry signs, but have even been filmed throwing water bottles at police and others.

April 25, 2010 — Arizona Riot Breaks Out at Immigration Protest

One organizer reportedly did not excuse the violence but did defend the reasoning behind it. Sadly, he put it all in racial terms.

“Now here comes a man, a white man, a minuteman, ’saying ya know, I have the right to go anywhere I want and get out of my way you bunch of Mexicans.’ Ya know, that’s gonna get people upset. I know there is no justification for what they did, however, you have to think that this is youth, they’re really upset.” – Mario Escobar

Put Down that Race Card

We have sought to call out haters and those that would cynically use race and the other political cards from the Democrats’ stacked deck because it is destructive our social fabric. These phony charges create real hate, and do real damage to the cause of a civil, tolerant and colorblind society.

From day one, the good men and women who have risen up in peaceful dissent against the big government policies of the Democrats in power have been subjected to the worst kinds of ridicule, name-calling and downright hate.

DC Douglas is simply repeating the Liberal/Democrat talking points when he levels the false charges against “teabaggers” and FreedomWorks.

He says “If you have ire about this, focus it on FreedomWorks.” That’s exactly what the Democrats and their friends on the left did. The resulting emails and voicemails prove the point about the real damage caused by the Democrats tactics.

Where did Gen. Casey get the notion that diversity is more important than national security or the safety of the troops?

As Sens. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) and Susan Collins (R-ME) threaten to subpoena the Justice Department and the Department of Defense for information on a domestic terrorist, we might want to review the bidding on Maj. Hasan and the brass at the Pentagon to date.
Army Gen. George Casey set a new standard for flag officer pandering while making excuses for domestic terror on the Sunday talk circuit last November. On three separate networks, Casey seemed to be more concerned with “diversity” than troop safety. Casey, you may recall, was the field commander in Iraq who, like William Westmoreland before him, was kicked upstairs, in the middle of a war, to be Army Chief of Staff. On that Sunday, Casey was seconded by the White House when the administration cautioned “against jumping to conclusions until we have all the facts.” So let’s look at those “facts” about Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan before we jump.

Hasan is an American citizen of Palestinian descent. He received all of his higher education at taxpayer expense in exchange for a limited tour of duty with the U.S. Army. He is now a middle-aged field grade officer, a doctor, and psychiatrist. He spent most of his military career at the notorious Walter Reed Medical Center, in Washington, D.C., counseling combat veterans. He likes to argue with patients, proselytize them, and passes out copies of the Koran. Off duty, he is fond of donning Islamic garb and patronizing a radical mosque five miles from the capital. He is an outspoken critic of the “war on terror” which he preferred to call the war on Islam – contradicting his commander-in-chief. He is known to have publicly asserted that his first loyalty was to Islam, not America. He, or his namesake, posted defenses of suicide bombers on radical Islamic web sites. He attempted and possibly contacted an iman, a jihad recruiter, linked to al Qaeda. His automobile sported a bumper sticker “Allah is Love!” His bizarre behavior was reported to his superiors to no avail. Other colleagues say they kept silent out of fears that any criticism of Hasan would violate unwritten Army rules of political correctness.

While liberal news outlets such as MSNBC were cynically exploiting the April 19th anniversary of the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing by attempting to tie the terrorist attack to the anti-government sentiments of the modern-day Tea Party movement, investigative reporter Jayna Davis was setting the record straight in an exclusive interview on the AIM radio show, Take AIM. The Oklahoma City bombing was an Arab/Muslim terrorist attack on the United States, she says.

Davis, author of a blockbuster book on the attack, The Third Terrorist, has examined and presented the evidence showing that Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh was in fact a front man for Middle Eastern terrorists. The third terrorist, in addition to the two, McVeigh and Terry Nichols, who were convicted, was an Arab. This was the mysterious “John Doe” who was never found. But other members of an Arab terrorist network were involved, she says.

She says the evidence was ignored and dismissed because the Clinton Administration didn’t want to go to war with Iraq, the likely culprit, and wanted to blame the attack on domestic right-wingers for political reasons.

The implications of what Davis has to say are that the case is still unsolved, that the FBI blew it, and that we may still be vulnerable to Arab terrorists infiltrating the U.S. and killing hundreds or thousands of innocent Americans.

Indeed, Davis suggested in her AIM interview that another attack on American soil may be coming, perhaps from the same networks which sponsored McVeigh.

I read Jayna Davis book when it came out…it is indisputable but that’s JUST my opinion…

A call to boycott Arizona products in response to the state’s controversial crackdown on illegal immigrants has ensnared Arizona Iced Tea — a product that happens to be brewed in New York.

The Arizona Beverage Company, which makes Arizona Iced Tea, is based in Woodbury, New York. Its tea was targeted on the social networking site Twitter as part of a national effort to boycott Arizona products, New York’s Daily News reported.

“The can and the bottle may say Arizona, but the content on the inside is made by New Yorkers,” said New York state Senator Craig Johnson, who has been trying to draw attention to the misunderstanding…

The American public is becoming fed up with “sneak” provisions tacked onto largely unrelated bills that are likely to pass. A glaring recent example was tacking onto the Healthcare bill a complete change to student loans. Often the “sneak” provision is so buried that hardly anyone is aware of it.

The Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2009 (H.R. 4173), recently passed in the House of Representatives, includes language going far beyond finance inserted by Congressman Henry Waxman (D-CA). This language could be used for an end run around the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA), the legislation that governs dietary supplement regulation by the FDA.

The Senate is expected to vote on its finance “reform” bill as early as this weekend. We need your help to ensure that it is not amended to include a similar provision going far beyond finance that could be used against supplements. Please take action now. TAKE ACTION

Congressman Waxman is well known as an opponent of the dietary supplement industry. This is somewhat ironic: his district includes Hollywood and presumably many of his closest supporters are health store shoppers and supplement users. Most of these people simply don’t know what Waxman is doing in this area.

This powerful Congressman, chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee (which includes health as a subcommittee), would appear to want supplements regulated like drugs, a step that would effectively eliminate them. He is determined and has stated: “One enduring truth about Washington is that no issue is ever settled for good.”

ANH-USA has been on alert to see how Waxman would use his committee chairmanship to strike at DSHEA. He is very clever and we knew a covert attack was a possibility.

A direct attack on supplements would take the form of an amendment to DSHEA, since that legislation governs FDA regulation of supplements. In this case, Waxman has left DSHEA alone, and has instead inserted language in the Wall St. “reform” bill that gives the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) important new powers that could be used to circumvent key supplement protections in DSHEA.

LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — Security was heightened Wednesday at the University of Wyoming as the school prepared for a speech from William Ayers, the 1960s radical whose visit was blocked before a federal judge ruled the university must allow him to speak.

University spokeswoman Jessica Lowell said Ayers’ visit would be handled like other prominent visitors.

“It’s the usual practice to do a security sweep of the facility and generally we ask people not to bring large knapsacks or bags or purses,” she said. “If they’re going to bring signs, we ask them to be hand-held, so we don’t want anything on sticks or sharp metal objects.”

Ayers’ visit provoked a tide of angry reaction from some critics in the state, and the university cited safety concerns in refusing to rent out space for the event. Ayers and a student sued the university for blocking his visit, and U.S. District Judge William Downes ruled Tuesday that the threats of violence the university reported receiving were too vague to warrant denying Ayers’ right to speak on campus.

Students planned a protest of Ayers visit Wednesday, but the magnitude of any demonstration wasn’t certain.

Ayers co-founded the Weather Underground, an anti-war group from the Vietnam Era that claimed to be responsible for a series of bombings, including nonfatal explosions at the Pentagon and U.S. Capitol. His past became a political issue during the 2008 presidential campaign because President Barack Obama had served with Ayers on the board of a Chicago charity. Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin accused Obama of “palling around with terrorists.”

Obama has condemned Ayers’ radical activities, and there’s no evidence they were ever close friends or that Ayers advised Obama on policy.

Ayers is now a professor in the University of Illinois-Chicago College of Education.

He initially was invited to the Wyoming campus by the UW Social Justice Research Center, but the privately endowed organization canceled the invitation because of hundreds of critical phone calls and e-mails.

Student Meg Lanker then invited Ayers to speak on campus, but the university refused to rent out space for the event, citing safety concerns because of threats the school received.

Lanker and Ayers sued the university, saying it violated their constitutional rights to free speech and assembly.

Other universities have canceled Ayers speeches recently, including the University of Nebraska and Boston College. He’s also been confronted by protesters at other appearances.

But Ayers testified Monday the Wyoming case is the first time he has filed a lawsuit against a college for denying him the right to speak.

Eds: CORRECTS name of Ayers’ school to Univ. of Illinois-Chicago. Will be led from afternoon tour.
